This is a true hidden gem. Absolutely amazing across the board. The interior was designed with love; it’s clean and cozy, and the server could not have been more of a sweetheart. But most importantly — the food. The black beef, essentially their take on a pot roast, is unreal. It’s one of the best South American dishes I’ve ever had, for real. Don’t sleep on this spot. We came about an hour away from Dayton, and it was more than worth it.

First time to Urbana and decided to stop into Abuela’s. Ive never had Venezuelan food, and was delighted with what I had! Pork empanada, yuca fries, and the yellow rice with chicken. Wonderful flavor, good portion sizes. Excellent service!

I stopped in here for lunch today, taco Tuesday!!! So glad I did. I went with 2 beef tacos and a pork taco plus rice pudding for dessert! The meat was very flavorful and juicy! Rice pudding was great too!Prices are reasonable. I liked the way the restaurant looks inside too. Will be back !

The vibes are maybe a little confusing with the “Bless This Mess” signs, but don’t let that put you off: the food is spectacular and the service fast and enthusiastic. Couldn’t pick a better spot for lunch in the area.
