This is my favorite Mexican grocery store in Sonoma County. The girls at the front are super friendly and sweet. The food in their restaurant is delicious. Love their veggie burritos. I like to get some fresh fruits like papaya and avocados here. And stuff like masa that is harder to find in regular stores. I go out of my way to get the $1.25 Mexico ice cream bars… lots of flavors…yum! They are always stocked up on everything in the store, and it’s clean and well organized. Easy parking out front. Thank you for being in business! 🙂

Burritos are awesome here – get the breakfast burrito all day, chicken is a great addition if you’re not hungry for breakfast but want a tasty burrito. Also recommend the carnitas quesadilla if you’re looking to mix it up! You can eat there or get it to go.

This is a great get groceries, breakfast, lunch or dinner, and find ingredients and products that you might not find elsewhere. For example, they almost always have the small net bags with those perfect-sized avocados. I like to make salsa verde and they always have enough green tomatoes. The deli has fresh salsas and cooked chickens. Great meat dept (even tho I’m vegan I can see it’s good quality), beautiful postres too. Very good prices on everything. It’s fun to grab a meal there and the cooks will customize for my vegan preferences. It’s also nice that the owner, Jose Castaneda, is often on site. Checkout staff are totally bilingual and tolerate me practicing Spanish when I check out. Big recommendation.

Best and freshest Mexican food I’ve had in Sonoma County. Hands down amazing. Get the Pinche Taco.

I don’t typically like pan dulce.. it’s often dry or dense. My wife brought some home this past weekend and it was the best I’d ever had. Better than Mexico City even. Sweet, light, and buttery. From the conchas to the cuernos.. it was all delicious. Thought we’d gotten too much- but it was gone in less than 24 hours. Hands off to the bakers!

The best Mexican market I have ever been to been too. The pride of ownership shows. From the time you walk in the store and are greeted by the staff and owner Jose.. What a story about Jose’s passion to create this gatheringplace. From microchips to tortilla chips.. The food selection is fantastic. From a fresh meats selection, dry goods to the fresh baked goods to the freshly baked cooked breakfast . Do yourself a favor and order the breakfast burrito. You won’t ever be disappointed. It’s large enough to feed 2 people easily. If you don’t visit this place? You are doing yourself a disservice when you’re in the town of Windsor.

Came here on a recommendation from a co-worker. At noon, one would think that this would be a ‘busy time’.

Castaneda’s is a great food store with a wide range of fresh and packaged goods that really help when trying to do some Mexican dishes at home. The real gem is the hot food counter with a massive menu, friendly staff and generous portions. Very affordable, the tater tots burrito is a favourite as are the tacos. They also have great tamales available to go, perfect to save for times when you don’t want to cook.

I was on a motorcycle trip and was planning on stopping for food and gas in Santa Rose, but my body was in so much pain that I had to stop early. I caught the “Mexican Restaurant” sign out of the corner of my eye and pulled in. Boy am I glad things worked out like they did.
