Sunday Brunch is simply phenomenal. Celebrated my birthday here with 3 friends and the service was truly amazing. It’s so great to see staff get excited about the food offering. You can tell when it’s genuine. Loved the space. The food was just over the top! Even the bacon is unique and amazes. Don’t skip dessert. Fantastic experience.

Catherine’s in Unionville – We wanted a place to eat near Longwood Gardens so I think someone in this group recommended it. It has a very charming outside and inside setup – kind of farmhouse chic. We got the seared tuna with blackberry jalapeno coulis, black angus cheese burger, very thick cut applewood smoked bacon and eggs benedict – all extremely delicious. It is also fairly wheelchair accessible ( at the table next to us someone was in a wheelchair although I don’t think the bathrooms had accessible entries) Great find if you don’t want to deal with the long lines at the crowded Longwood eating options.

We discovered Catherine’s by accident when we drove by it on our way back to Delaware from somewhere else. We were very impressed overall. The setting is lovely. The is plenty of seating indoors and the outdoor garden seating is beautiful in nice weather. Our server was friendly and very knowledgeable regarding the menu. Everything was delicious from the hot crusty bread with homeade tapanade, to a delicious scallop appetizer, and excellent main courses. We also appreciated not being rushed so we could enjoy being outdoors on a lovely evening. A couple of notes if you plan to attend. 1. Tips are given in cash only which was the one thing we found strange. You can pay for the meal with a card but you can’t tip with one. 2. Parking, and entry to the restaurant is in the back. 3. The restaurant, like many in Kennett Square, is BYOB. All those things side Catherine’s is well worth a visit!

Catherine’s is a gem! My wife and I have been there twice – the first time weeks before the pandemic, and the second time during July 4th weekend of 2023. Everything about the place is exceptional – the atmosphere, the appetizers, the entrees, the dessert, the service, and the hospitality. You must try the mushroom soup! I had the filet mignon cooked to perfection and my wife enjoyed the braised ribs. Both were out of this world! Marybeth is a gracious host and her husband is quite the chef! And make sure to see the picture of her grandmother, Catherine, hanging prominently in the restaurant! This is a can’t miss restaurant and we look forward to visiting again and again!

We were excited for our most recent visit to Catherine’s, as we had enjoyed it so much previously. Unfortunately, we had a different experience this time. Due to a reservation error (which did turn out to be our fault), the owner/manager/hostess unpleasantly explained that we had no table. While explaining to my parents and elderly mother in law that there had been a mistake, and trying to shuffle my family out the door, the same woman begrudgingly created a table for us. We were so pleased, but she was obviously angry. I should have taken the hint & left, but since we had traveled from out of state, we opted to dine there. Dinner started well, with Adam, a truly excellent server. Apparently he got wind that we were to be treated like a leprosy colony…. And the wonderful service stopped once our order was taken. The actual food was fantastic, but our table was completely ignored after our food was delivered. We enjoyed our meal despite the frosty feeling we were getting. Almost 45 minutes after we finished, we had to seek out our check. No offers of coffee, no dessert menu… and just to prove a point, the same chilly woman who greeted us on our arrival then came to our table to show us & all diners around us, that the mistake on reservations had been mine. Please know that despite our initial disappointment- we didn’t make a fuss, didn’t demand a table, and even suspected that it was our error. Catherine’s offered us a table, which they certainly didn’t need to do. And truly I wish they hadn’t. Who ever the woman running the show was, she was far more concerned with being right than being considerate. Sadly we will never return. We paid far too much to be treated so poorly. Thankfully there are so many fabulous alternatives!! Note to Catherine’s, I do not subscribe to the saying “The customer is always right.”, but I do believe in common courtesy. There was no need to intentionally belittle my family. Please do better in the future. Best wishes on an improved attitude, which will pair well with the delicious food. Bon appetite!

Far and away the best meal I’ve had in months. No other restaurant in the area can hold a candle to Catherine’s. The crab cake was delightful, the lamb was decadent, the service was fantastic. The venue is cozy and rustic, much like the food. You can tell everything is very fresh and the ingredients are high quality. My only regret was passing on dessert!

We had been to Catherine’s before and had a nice meal. This time they could not find our reservation. My daughter had made the reservation and they had even taken her credit card information. They did seat us but they were very unpleasant. As we were getting ready to leave they said they had found our reservation but instead of apologizing for the error they continued to be less than pleasant. The dinning room is very noisy.

Looking very forward to trying this restaurant, next time we are in Unionville, missed it on last visit. It appears to be a phenomenal place to dine, the last time I was there it was a grocery store, that was about 55 years ago maybe a little more. We lived a couple doors up the street.
