I’m from Chicago but live in NC. We decided to take a mini vacation with the kids before school starts again and decided to visit Richmond. I was super excited to see a restaurant that serves Chicago dogs so we ventured off to grab some lunch at city dogs. Parking difficult to find so I told my husband to run in and I’d wait in the car just down the street to move it if I needed to. We spent $70 on lunch. 7 Chicago Dogs, 5 baskets of fries and 2 orders of onion rings. The price wasn’t bad but the service was trash. My husband is a physician with a strong Latino accent but humble and kind. He simply asked for salt after the food was handed to him and the girl working the register rolled her eyes. RUDE. Was it the Spanish accent that bothered her or was it actually having to do her job, we’ll never know? Needless to say but I was so disappointed with the Chicago dogs. It may have been disguised like one but it’s can assure you the damn thing was an imposter and looked like it was 2 days old, wrinkly and kinda tough to chew it resembled an old gas station hot dog off the rollers. The fries were hard and the onion rings were flavorless. Such a disappointment all of it , the food the service…all of it.

It was an interesting experience here in Downtown Richmond where most things are closed rather early but this spot was still open as it offers regular fare in hot dogs, hamburgers and sandwiches. They have take out and you could dine in if you choose. The food was good, the Cole slaw was not to be desired but the French fries were on point.
