Great place for Venezuelan food. The made from scratch cachapa was excellent, but the cheese was not the traditional queso de mano or guayanez. The tequeños and the salsa de ajo are to die for, so is the chicha. It’s a bit pricey, though.

So a Venezuelan colleague recommended and swore about this place which it is the closest to being authentically Venezuelan tasty….i was a bit skeptical when i arrived to where Coromoto ( the name derives from Our Lady of Coromoto, after an indigenous chief of the same tribal name) is located, and i was not impressed. Located next to a construction site. It’s a small place, 3 tables, small bar, and a couple of large screen TVs. Plain decor. Nothing to brag about. But i will share with you what I’ll brag about….. the service(splendid, and courteous), the food (amazingly exquisite, fresh, hot at the right temperature) I was taken aback WOW!. The server recommended as an app small meatballs (tasty) excellent choice, the cheese empanadas made with handmade cheese, succulent the dough had a sweet and salty taste (i could’ve eaten 5 if it wasn’t that i wanted to try other delicacies) Also tried the beef empanadas made with shredded tender beef, juicy. To top it off as an app needed to taste the arepa con queso ( corn pancake like a squared pocket with cheese in the middle, warm. Then ordered the main course, i had the tilapia in lemon sauce with a salad, and black beans, yummy. Also ordered the salteado de carne de res ( styr fry steak strips sautéed, and smothered with onions, and peppers and French fries. The meat was so soft, tender, melted in your mouth. My experience i rated it a 4.7 because of the service, chef, and preparation/taste of the food. Decor needs improvements. Their main dishes are Pabellon, cachapas ( sweet corn corn cakes with any protein you want). The plain corn cakes or add any protein to it as well. They also offer smashed green plantains. The bar offers a variety of mixed drinks/ beers ( try Polar)… no dessert in this visit which means I’ll comeback to try other authentic dishes…. can’t wait!

I live in the area so I’ve known this spot for while. Food and drinks are good but service is awful. It’s like the fourth time I order something and then in the check it’s a different price. Like what’s the point of ordering off the menu if they don’t honor the price and just put an increased price in the bill. On top of that they are dishonest and automatically include gratuity when they know the service was bad. They should teach these new servers some respect with the guests. If the price is wrong, then change the menus and honor the price, that’s dishonest. And let me decide what tip you deserve for your bad service not the other way.

IF YOU WANT REALLY GOOD VENEZUELAN FOOD DON’T GO HERE. Go to LA GRAN SABANA in West New York. This place is not good, their prices in the menus are not aligned with what they have in the system so they end up charging way more than your expecting, plus they charge 20% tip right away without even saying anything so you end up tipping twice at the end and they’re not willing to back up the transaction or at least give you the money back. Also, their servers are awful they don’t even have good customer service skills, they’re very entitle and they’re not willing to help the customer.

*Scam alert* Shady business. They alter the prices. Menu shows a price and then they increase it in the bill. They secretly charge you a 20% “service fee” so you tip on top of that. *Be careful* Read your bill before you pay. This place is shady and dishonest. Check the other reviews I ain’t lying

Super good venezuelan… more traditional, not fancy, but fantastic. Try whatever is in the pics I post. Everything is touched with good savory charm.

The food is very good at this place. I’m not venezuelan so my opinion is very personal. However I’ve had lunch here twice with venezuelan National and she has indicated that the food is very authentic. So there you go.
