Confessions of a Food Freak
Dim place. The food was okay I got the taco box with a side of slaw and my friend got the taco box with the side of pickled veggies. She also got the corn chowder. She said the chowder was really good I definitely thought that it was really small for 7 dollars. I was really happy with my fried batter fish taco but the Al pastor taco in my opinion could have had more meat I thought it’s was kinda pricy for what I received . I was kinda disappointed. I was also recommended the slaw as a side and idk why because it was so bland. Definitely missing something. My friends pickled veggies were good but we felt it shouldn’t be a side but a few just put on the taco. That’s just my opinion.

Diego’s is one of my fave local dinner spots – definitely my favorite spot for tacos uptown. I love the variety of creative and delicious vegetarian and vegan options and I always go for the jalapeno cucumber margarita.

The food was decent, but the drinks tasted watered down. I told the manager that my margarita tasted like there was little to no alcohol in it, and he responded by saying there was no way that was possible and that I was “just used to it”. I’ve worked in many bars and restaurants, and I found that to be very rude and unprofessional. Our server didn’t check on us for the rest of the evening.

I cannot recommend the strawberry margarita enough!! So many places use mixes or syrups, and Diego’s used simple ingredients to make such a clean, crisp drink. We were able to sit outside with our dog, and the staff was nice enough to bring out a little water dish for her.

I wanted to love this place but unfortunately I didn’t . I came here on a recommendation from a happy customer but this person was there before Covid And I think a lot has changed for the restaurant since then and not for the better . I had reservations for 8pm and when I arrived there was a family in front us with no reservations and they were seated at the last available table in the restaurant and then they had me wait with my elderly mother standing up . I will say when they saw that I was upset for good reason they scrambled to put two small tables together and apologized. It then took forever to get our order taken and once it arrived my taco had only One piece of chicken in it… Yes One Piece Of Chicken and it was $18.00 . How does that even leave the kitchen ?? My Mom had fish tacos and said she had 2 pieces of fish in hers which isn’t great either but at least better then my one . It was late and I just didn’t have the energy to complain or express my disappointment but no one would be happy with that experience. I paid my $80 bill for empty tacos and poor service and even with all that said I left a 20% tip but I Will not be go back . They were telling us they were short staffed since Covid so I think things have definitely changed for them but what’s the excuse for our meal . They seem to be great people with a great product but they have some serious improving to do if they care about people leaving happy .

Fellow vegans, beware! The special described to me by the waitress included bacon and I informed her, no thanks, I am vegan. I ordered the $15 two taco with one side special. Both tacos consisted of veggies. When the food arrived, my black beans were sprinkled with queso blanko. When I complained to the waitress and reminded her that I am a vegan, she said “I told you to read the menu carefully” because the veg tacos were smothered in mayo and some cheese (surprise!). I reminded again her that I was vegan, no dairy no meat. She offered to scrape the non-vegan elements off my order. I paid the bill (no tip) and left. Enter at your own risk.

Came to this area for work from Pennsylvania. This made the 4.5 hour trip in the car worth it. Friendly staff, quaint little atmosphere, excellent food. Limited seating but so worth the wait. Slaw was very light and pleasing to the palette. Street tacos were bigger than expected. Wish I could have ordered 1 of everything on the menu. Definitely coming back to visit with the wife. Cute little town, takes you back in time.

Have completely fallen in love with this place! The food is incredible, best tacos on the planet. The flavor profiles in every one of the unique tacos are so complex, balanced and scrumptious! Super relaxed, community vibe. Fantastic staff and the owner/chef was so humble and passionate about her craft.

I paid $30 for ONE piece of corn, cut in half, a cup of guacamole and a cup of rice and beans that was 90% rice.
