My friends invited me to try out Dongpo Impressions and I have to say I was highly impressed.

I am not sure why they don’t have 4.9 stars. We had excellently tasty and tender spicy pork slices on soft tofu as the main dish, four appetizers that are all delicious and authentic and two desserts.

An absolute 10/10 Sichuan Gem in Chinatown. Never crowded, just excellent dish after excellent dish. Start with the cold noodle salad and cucumber salad. The cold noodle salad is the best I’ve ever had, seriously perfectly cooked flour noodles with a Sichuan kick. Some of my favorites include the green beens, dongpo pork, smoked tea duck, basically any green vegetable, mapo tofu, beef and broccoli, and believe it or not the pork intestine noodle soup (not for everyone though). Reasonably priced as well and very close to red line. Do yourself a favor and try out this place. Could not recommend more.

Hidden gem in Chinatown with authentic Sichuan cuisine. They offer a special kind of skewer hotpot that is not available at many of the other sichuan places in chicago. You can pick any kind of protein or vegetables and they will skewer them and serve it in a spicy chili oil. It’s my goto here since no where else has it. Their spicy fried chicken and Dan Dan noodles are also quite good. The spicy sauce that comes with the wontons is amazing as well. Price is very reasonable ($6.95 for the Dan Dan Noodles!). I usually get take out but they also have dine-in.

Visited here once before and got take out, and the food was amazing, so I vowed to return. Went on yesterday after a musical downtown and ate inside. The food did not disappoint again, so I was ecstatic about that. I ordered the vegetable noodles and vegetable rice, and my sister ordered the noodles with chicken. After her first 6 said, “This is delicious.” I ordered mine spicy, I like spicy, but it was very spicy, burn your mouth spicy. I’d suggest getting the spicy sauce on the side. The food did not miss, and the complimentary pot of tea was a great plus. The staff were very courteous and attentive. Our bill was $33.00 for the two of us, can’t beat that, and they provided plenty of food, enough to take home. I noticed they had a lot of food delivery pickups, so they must be pretty popular. Highly recommend

Fantastic Szechwan Restaurant. The vegetarian selections are uniformly tasty and they’re willing to make certain dishes, like Dan Dan Noodles, without meat. Everything tastes wonderful with great flavors. The Mala pops in Mapo Tofu. The Yushiang Eggplant is reminiscent of Fish Flavored Eggplant. Good addition to the Restaurants to revisit in Chinatown.
