Great barbecue spot with a neighborhood feel, loved the truth-tip, smoked salmon and the brisket, have yet to try the beef ribs but I love me some beef ribs. The chili is also great but might not be for everyone since it’s quite chunky, but I like it like that.

This place is so unique and delicious. I got the smoked salmon sandwich and the pulled pork sandwich with the elote pasta salad and Mac and cheese. It’s like Mexican food married BBQ food and had this wonderful place as its baby. So yummy! You have to try it!

Mouthwatering meats. The most important thing I’ll say is be mindful of when you go: we arrived too early and the beef ribs don’t start being available until after 1pm and the brisket is done on Saturdays.

I was working in the area, and my coworker mentioned that he was in the same area the previous day, and he had lunch at El Barbecue, and it was good. When lunch rolled around we went for BBQ!

Stop everything and go order yourself a Santa Natalia (tritip sandwich) here. This jaw-dropping sandwich has the most amazing flavor. Everything else I’ve tried here is great too, but I keep going back for the SN. Staff is always fun and helpful. It can get a “little crowded”, but it’s usually just people taking long to order. Nice little dive bar-like feel. Open air and pretty interesting people watching of Golden Hill residents. No cash – card only.

I happened upon this place while I was waiting for my kid to take a tennis lesson. The brisket sandwich, beans and fries were exactly what I needed. Location is right on a corner, with parking one house over. Nice open feel to the place. TV’s on and beer flowing. That brisket sandwich was a work of art!

Hidden gem! Family owned BBQ is the real deal. Delicious smoked TRI tip, chicken, drumsticks, homemade BBQ sauce (don’t miss the K-pop BBQ sauce), very friendly staff and owners. Haven’t tried the beef ribs yet as they were sold out. Come early!

This place isn’t meant with it’s near community in mind. I doubt the owners wanted to be on this side of the bridge. I bet they probably couldn’t afford anything in Golden Hill and had to settle with Sherman Heights. The epitome of cultural appropriation . Yeah, I know your wife is Latina (half?). But you’re not here with the “El” in your name for the community. We see you. Trust me. We see your targeted audience/customers. The Latinos that eat there are the same ones that run away from this location once they’re finished with their food. We are not welcomed. And if so, maybe help clean around your area. Your food is decent. I don’t know who in their right mind puts queso cotija on birria, it should be illegal, it’s not even a subjective matter, it’s an unauthentic taste. Also, you only have IPA’s… It’s the misrepresentation that bothers me. Good customer service from you and your workers when inside your building, but it seems to remain there. Long lines with indecent waiting for mediocre food. I love barbecue and its a shame I live so close to something that my heart tells me not to go into.
