Stopped by for a lunch date with my wife. Seated quickly, and the food came out super fast. This restaurant sits you down with chips, salsa, and a tasty dip. My chimichangas were good, but the quesidilla dish wasn’t great.

This is definitely my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. It’s centrally located and easy to find. The parking has ample spaces and even overflows to the back. It’s walking distance to several hotels. And right off historic route one. I have always found this restaurant very clean and welcoming. We have always been greeted right away with a smile shown to a table, and sometimes chips and salsa are on the table before we even finish sitting down. With the chips and red salsa comes a salsa Blanca. Which is actually native to Virginia not Mexico. It was actually developed in Norfolk Virginia. I have never had a bad meal here. Their seasoning is wonderful and their ingredients are always fresh. I have been there for lunch and dinner. And the service is always excellent. Pricing as well is reasonable for the freshness and amount of food presented. I love their Decour. They do have a couple of TVs running, but they also have beautiful, murals and paintings. there’s two types of seating, in a booth or in barrel style chairs. It is definitely my go to place whenever I have guests.

I just finished my “dinner” at El Charro. Mega thick Margarita glasses make it appear you are getting twice as much as what it actually holds. Enchiladas were extremely disappointing. It appears that there is little supervision in the kitchen. Soccer on the bar screens was for entertaining the employees. Glancing into the kitchen should be recommended prior to ordering. I don’t think I’ll be eating ANY Mexican food for a while after this.

Got the enchiladas rancheras. Tomatoes and guac weren’t very fresh. Chicken and enchilada sauce were great, but the tortillas were chewy and kind of a weird texture. Salsa was decent, but nothing special. Service was great though! Food came out very quickly, and the cheese in my enchiladas was very hot and melty!
