I think we caught them on a bad day. The rice that’s apart of the sushi rolls were old + hard + dry. The classic salmon roll confused me bc it’s salmon had a nasty fishy aftertaste but the salmon sashimi was great. Tiger tempura was drenched in the spicy Mayo so that was majority of its taste too.

This might be a very unfound gem of a Sushi joint in Richmond. I must have driven by them 100’s of time and never knew they were a restaurant. Looks more like an old warehouse, but find some parking on Boulevard and try this place out. They have Fantastic Sushi! Once you walk in, it’s a totally different vibe than their outside appearance. We sat at the bar and the bartender was great. It took a little while for our food to come, but they a couple of large tables in front of us. We’ll worth the wait though. Nice, large rolls. Very fresh and tasty. We will definitely be back!

Looks like a swanky little place. The staff was down to earth and really great with suggestions on food and drinks. I had to navigate some allergy issues, but that was easy when talking it out with the waitress.

Fighting fish is awesome- best sushi in richmond, our new to go. It also has a well thought out bar cocktail menu. Just got the Elder millennial and was fabulous, but every cocktail I’ve done there is art. The flaming tuna nachos are probably my current favorite substance. A bit spicy, lots of tuna, tomato and roe – just awesome combo. Service is fast, friendly to call ahead. Just a great place.

We got here without a reservation on a Friday night. We recommend a reservation. We got here at about 6pm and put our name on the list and was told 45 minutes and if we wanted we can sit at the bar for service if there are free seats. I gave her my name and phone number twice and watch her write it down. She said she call or text. We went down the streets for a drink and at about 40 minutes went by and we walked back. She looked startled when we walked in and it was less busy then before. I asked if there was availability and she said “um I tried to call you guys but there was no answer.” I never got a call or text, and all the tables empty were reserved. We sat at the bar since that freed up and placed an order. The bar tender was great and the wife appreciated the NA bar options. We got edamame and two rolls. The edamame was a small bowl and not enough salt really but the sushi was pretty good. Took a while to come out, but it was enjoyable. I don’t like cucumber or avacado in my sushi and 90% of the sushi on the menu had those. FYI. Other down side is if you like your miso soup, which comes with sushi, is in the bottom 3 miso soups I have had. Surprisingly, Sushi King has better miso soup. All and all ok experience, but there are so many other sushi places in town may not go back.

Don’t judge a restaurant by its cover. I must admit when I was driving to find parking (while looking for the restaurant) I didn’t see anything that stood out like eat here. Until, I walked in and was impressed

This is the place I recommend to everyone looking for good Japanese fish cuisine. Many other establishments have gone downhill in quality, and it’s a stark difference from the careful attention Fighting Fish puts towards their food.

I don’t like sushi. At least I thought I didn’t like sushi until I went to Fighting Fish and ate their sushi. Wow! The only thing better than admiring the beautifully plated dishes is eating the beautifully plated dishes. We arrived at Happy Hour and took advantage of the “Happy Food ” $5 each for Furikake Fries and Mini Flaming Tuna Nachos that were unbelievably great. The Tiger Tempura Roll was fantastic, as was the Tuna Love Roll and the Ruby Roll. Every dish was excellent and was served with a small bowl of Miso Soup. I am so happy that I went out of my comfort zone and tried the delicious food at Fighting Fish. I can emphatically now say, “I love sushi!”

We came after a recommendation and we were happy with our order but not blown away. The sushi was a bit overpriced in our opinion for what it was and I am undecided on if I would come back. We got the monster roll and the sunset roll. Between those two sunset roll was better and we probably would have picked something else for the monster. Overall fish was fresh but the flavors didn’t wow us.
