I stopped in Ashland due to ridiculous traffic on 95. Since traffic wasn’t moving I looked up BBQ places. The closest BBQ restaurant didn’t have a good review in 3 years and Freakin BBQ has stellar reviews. Easy choice.

Stopped in on my birthday for some Freakin BBQ. I had the two meat dinner. The food came out very quickly. The pulled pork was good. Moist, tender, flavorful. The brisket wasn’t bad. Tender, with a smokey flavor. I enjoyed the mac & cheese and the collards, which had a vinegary/sweet flavor, as well as a little bit of heat. Looking forward to trying out the fish dinner.

I got the 2 meat plate for lunch. The wings were DELICIOUS! Great smokey flavor, hot, crispy. A full portion was only three wings. The brisket had a good smoke flavor, was tender, but was a bit salty. The slaw was good but a bit too sweet for my taste. Unfortunately the mac-n-cheese was a bust. It was cold and the cheese throughout was still in shredded form. I’d definitely return for the wings!

I was passing through. I happened to stop and try this BBQ place out. From Memphis to North Carolina, this is absolutely hands down the greatest tasting BBQ Brisket I have ever tasted pin my life!!! I’ve tried BBQ in numerous states off the food network, but nothing has come close to this place!!!!

The ribs are pretty good 8/10 …the macaroni was everything 10/10 …I unfortunately did not like the greens at all 4/10 …they have this weird sweet vinegary taste with a terrible aftertaste

Phenomenal service, mouthwatering flavors. Brisket: tender, juicy, delicious run. Greens: a symphony of flavors clearly crafted with care. I tried this spot on a whim. It was easily the best decision I’ve made in weeks!! The food is full of flavor. The meats are perfectly cooked to the most tender bite. The mac & cheese was baked homestyle, not some warmed frozen glob. The fish was well seasoned making you wonder if someone’s uncle was in the back over the grill & fryer! The service was excellent & the prices are among the best in the area for BBQ as well. All around 10 out of 10!!

I normally order the fish dinner. The fish is pretty good but over the portion has been getting smaller every time I order. This last order did it for me. I got to 2 slivers of thin fish. It looked more suitable for a fish sandwich than a dinner. They should be ashamed of sending that out. I won’t be ordering again.

Visited here in our way home and the food was amazing. The shrimp were great. The brisket was excellent, especially with the homemade North Carolina sauce. The fish was coated and fried perfectly. The service was outstanding. Friendly and warm. We loved it there and hope to stop here again when in the area.
