Was excited to try Shinya since there are not many izakaya restaurants in Chicago. Family owned restaurants are the best, especially when the owners are working because they actually care about their customers. The prices are reasonable and tasted good. Looking forward to returning and getting some repeats and trying some new items.

Stop by to grab some food before me and friends hit the clubs, the prices are cheap and there’s a lot of options. As the wagyu are delicious, the bacon wrapped in tomatoes and chicken skin skewers is a must. The boss was really cool and friendly with us, told us how they were made them and the idea behind it. Definitely coming back.

The place is new. The servers were busy but the service was slow. The food was just average. The beef don came with rare onion pieces and runny egg. Seems like the place is not exactly ready for business. The best thing is that it goes into the early morning!
