The coolest Korean joint in Chicago’s Andersonville ‘hood. It was hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a while. First off, the food at Jinju is out of this world. I tried their Chu Gu Mi Dol Sut Bi Bim Bap, and holy moly, it was amazing!! The combo of baby octopus, scallops, rice, hot stone pot and all those veggies was straight-up mind-blowing. So dang good! The chicken wings, aka Dak Gan Jang, were off the charts. Sam Gyup Sal was also fantastic pork belly, crispy leeks, and a bunch of other goodness.

I have enjoyed Jin Ju for years now, and I recently got to host a large dinner party for my birthday in their private dining space. The experience from planning the menu (including navigating dietary restrictions with a larger group) to arriving and enjoying our meal was so fantastic, and everyone enjoyed the experience and food! Jin Ju is fantastic for any occasion, and I am already craving the chicken wings again.

After having an underwhelming experience at Passerotto, Jinju was an awesome beyond expectations experience. Food was awesome and service awesome as well. Soju cocktails were delicious and I loved how they asked if I wanted it sweeter or more dry (since I like my drinks more sweet). It hit more close to home for me being a Korean American. All very familiar flavors. All the dishes we got were delish and I would recommend them all. I would totally come back to this place to try other things.

Bulgogi was dry but good flavor. Chicken wings were decent. A tad too saucey and too much breading though. The bonchon was good. Overall, not super impressed with the food but service and ambience were great, and it’s not too expensive. I would come back to try other things on the menu, hopefully they would be better.

I’ve been here twice now in the last month and just love it. Flavors really pop, the cocktail list is huge and creative, and the staff is genuine and attentive. Affordable for the quality. Nice but not fussy atmosphere too. Definitely recommend.

Kimchi mando (fried) were amazing. Scallion pancake was ok (but greasy) and the pork belly appetizer was ok too (more Brussels sprouts then belly and not very flavorful). The spicy chicken bulgogi and the chap chae (veggie) were standouts though, service was quick and attentive. We left well fed and kids happy. Would come back.

Really wanted to like this place but was quite disappointed in the food. The kimchi pajun was crispy but had no flavor other that “deep fried”, couldn’t even sense there was kimchi in it. The tteok was chewy but the sauce also lacked flavor. The stone bowl bibimbap wasn’t salted and the sauce added nothing to it; it tasted like bland white rice with unseasoned vegetables. These all felt like traditional Korean dishes, but the depth of flavor usually found in Korean cooking was really lacking.

Not knowing what to expect Jin Ju surely didn’t disappoint. Service was professional, friendly and quick. The Sojutini was fresh and a nice touch to this contemporary Korean restaurant. Bibimbap remained hot the entire meal. The seafood was cooked perfect and was full of flavor. Recommend the bibimbap or bulgogi bowl. Overall a fantastic experience.
