We dined there last night. Food is really delicious.They also have separate kids menu which is really nice for families with kids as I know not many kids like Sushi. Restaurant offers patio sitting with wonderful view of Rogue river. It’s nicely adorned and well maintained little Sushi restaurant for sushi lovers. If you are planning to visit Rockford downtown and want to try Sushi then go for it. They also have good vegetarian options.Service was good and our server was really knowledgeable about the menu and overall a sweet lady. I enjoyed their plum wine. I would definitely recommend this place.

We come to Kawa very frequently because we live in Rockford and my family LOVES sushi! My adult kids are sushi “snobs”, and have had eaten sushi in many different cities – and they think the quality here is top notch. I personally don’t like fish – but there are so many options for me too. I like the veggie roll, and the chicken friend rice is FANTASTIC. The newest addition – RAMEN! And it’s incredibly good! Rich broth, noodles done just right.

We ordered the GTR, Angry Wives, spicy tuna, eel roll, dumplings, and a house salad. The dumplings are the only thing that I’d recommend. I was charged for the salad despite sending it back after two bites (I love ginger dressing; just not theirs). Two of the four rolls were soggy due to whatever sauce they pour on the bottom of the plate. Not good! Save your money!

This is one of our favorite sushi places. We love the 911 Roll and garlic edamame. Staff is very helpful and pleasant. Plus, can you get any better than this view? Make sure this is your next lunch or dinner stop. We should make sure this places stays in downtown Rockford.

This is our absolute favorite sushi place in the area. This place is a hidden gem. Every time we go back, my husband orders a different sushi roll, and every single time, he says it’s his new favorite roll. They are always very flavorful, fresh, and carefully made. They will always allow you to add or take off ingredients. They also recently added Birria Ramen, and oh my goodness!!!! It is the most amazing and tasty Birria Ramen I’ve ever had, and I’ve had my good share of them. I can only hope they make it a permanent option because this is the dish I just want to keep going back for. The flavors are so authentic, and the portion is quite large. I can never manage to finish mine. I highly recommend visiting Kawa Sushi and Grill. The atmosphere and friendliness of staff here are excellent and the food will not disappoint.

The sushi is fantastic. Our favorite items from the menu are the Kawa fried rice with beef and pretty much any of the specialty sushi roles. You can’t go wrong with this gem in the Rockford area. Always clean, great service, the location is perfect for a family day and the food is superb!!
