I think it’s the 1st Cambodian on the North Side of Chicago (or as a whole). Really great service and really good food. Diverse staff. Great space, I felt like I was at a friend’s house. Super welcoming environment . Everything I had was great, the dip however has a very, very strong aroma. Tastes great but is beyond pungent, if you can handle the aroma of jackfruit and the like you will be just fine like me. The shrimp rolls were amazing with the dipping sauce. Definitely check the place out if you want to try something new and/or authentic.

A long anticipated first time at Khmai and had such a great experience! The staff was fantastic, super helpful and friendly. The food was amazing as expected with unique flavours, generous portions, and perfectly well balanced. Although Cambodian food isn’t a cuisine I have super often, I found their menu incredibly approachable while still maintaining their authenticity. One of my new favourite spots and will definitely be back!

Awesome server, friendly, welcoming and did nice job explaining the dishes. Most of the dishes are great (i.e pork shoulder, pin noodles), but some are on the salty side (i.e short rib stew). Had dinner with party of 6, but food were coming out one by one and it is family-style. If you going in a bigger party, expect to stay for ~2 hours.

Chef Mona and the Khmai staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful experience. Seven amazing courses and a live cultural experience through Cambodian culture makes this a must go. If you don’t believe me check out the dessert. If you’re a foodie this is one box you gotta check.

I was really looking forward to this place, after reading so many good reviews. The prices are too high for the kind of food we ate we spent over $100 for two small entres and two little drinks food was really nothing special looks better in pictures, drinks tasted like syrup with water, super high prices, the entrees came at random times not at once, and the waitress kept taking my food away when I was still eating. They tried to make it look fancy but is really not. I could smell the cigarettes from people in the street they had open door. I have tried way better for cheaper. Sketchy area needless to say I dont recommend and I won’t be back.
