We thought the food here was really good but we also had to spend close to $60 for two people to have lunch. We tried a small portion of ribs, and the smallest portion of brisket and pulled pork. The small 4ox portion of brisket for example is literally one slice. A half pound of ribs was 4 small baby back ribs. Our chopped pork was the size of a side container. Sides are on average $5 and they too are pretty small and enough for two people to have a very small portion only- not really enough that you’d consider it a side. We came here because we heard the food was great and it was. If these are the prices and portions that keep their business solvent based on overheard and food prices, I understand that it but at the same time it does unfortunately impact our choice to eat there again and how often. I’d rather eat out less often and have a really good quality meal but realize this is not the mentality of many consumers today. Curious to see how this pans out for this business. I’d like to see people recognize the quality and be willing to pay what the business needs to provide it and be in an environment like Optimist Hall but time will tell. Not sure if their meat is pasture raised pork & beef or if it was meat that came from the commercial feed lot type environment. I should have asked. That would definitely make it more expensive.

Lot of hype and didn’t live up. Brisket was dry, good bark and smoke ring but lacked flavor on top of being dry. Pulled chicken was good. Fries and Mac and Cheese were the best part of the meal.

Of all the restaurants at Optimist Hall, this location has the most inflated menu. We sat by it and noticed only two customers make a purchase. We made three with an order of mac and cheese. It was good but the portion simply was not worth $5.

The Brisket is well seasoned and comes with a variety of sauces to choose from. The Mac and greens were no where near mediocre as well very well seasoned and delicious. The price on the other hand was verrrrry steep for the portion size, in addition there is a surcharge for a peice of bread that does not come with the brisket. This was not 40$ worth but definitely worth a try.

Cashier was cold. I think she could have cared less if I ordered. Barbecue was almost cold. Collards were very good. The price was high. I will never eat here again.

Decided to try this as it’s new to Optimist Hall and a nice option for lower carbs if you’re looking for that. The prices seemed incredibly steep considering the small amount of meat you get if you do not get a sandwich. I didn’t know if I should try fries or Mac and cheese but figured with a southern restaurant I had to try the Mac and cheese. It was nothing special so perhaps some salt and pepper would have helped. Over all the meat tasted good just small amount for $$$

Ordered the pork sandwich. They have decent sauces but if you are a BBQ purist who doesn’t like sauces I’d try something else here.
