This is a wonderful restaurant with home cooked food and deserts. The atmosphere is very relaxing, cozy and well decorated. The staff is very friendly. This is my favorite place for a special getaway lunch. I love the special Swedish dishes and be sure to enjoy the lingonberry lemonade!

This was my first time visiting Bishop Hill. Before going to a couple of shops, we had lunch at PL Johnson. What a treat! Three of us ordered three different dishes & shared. We got Swedish meatballs, stuffed cabbage, & ham with Swiss cheese casserole. Everything was delicious!!!

Great place with good food and friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Don’t forget dessert. They make everything homemade and in house.

This is a very quaint restaurant that embodies the Swedish heritage of the village. The menu and the hours are somewhat limited but the food on offer is delightful. I got the Swedish meatballs and a slice of peach berry pie. Everything was very tasty. The service was great, too.

Eat somewhere else if you’re hungry or if you like good value for your meal. Glad it was just my wife and me, and not the 5 kids too! The food tasted good but the prices were ridiculous. I paid $13 for a cabbage roll that could be eaten in two bites; even $3 would have been expensive. Also got the Swedish meatballs. For $13 I expected at least a dinner-plate, but instead it came in a tiny bowl. It felt like we had eaten at one of those haute-cuisine restaurants where the portion is barely enough to feed an elf. Both my wife and I left hungry, and she’s almost always takes home a doggy bag.

The food is delicious. Wait staff are very helpful and attentive. We love the Swedish meatballs and the homemade pie. The Swedish sampler plate is also very delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant. We make the drive from the suburbs of Chicago to enjoy the food.

Heard so much about this town. Ate at this restaurant. I asked for soup and 1/2 sandwich. They said they were out of soup. So we ordered a sandwich that comes with a pickle and chips. We get plates and I get a half sandwich a pickle and grapes. I.asked where my chips were they said they ran out. I asked for a side dish to replace the chips I was told that’s what the grapes were for. I told them I didn’t like grapes. We paid $12 something for our plates. Two ice teas @1.95 a piece with were about 6oz. When it came time to pay I was asked how everything was. I told him our situation and all he said is that he was sorry. No discount nothing. Very rude. If they didn’t have chips we should have been told. We should have went to the Filling stationbetter menu and better price. I don’t recommend anyone go here. Customer is just a paying customer.

Cute little store/restaurant. We went on a weekend. Not busy so seated quickly. Service was fast and efficient. Food was delicious! I highly recommend the meatballs! Oh and get the lindenberry sauce. Yum! I would compare these to the ikea meatballs. So good!! And way closer to me then Chicago. Manageable portion. Soda came in a can. But on a cold day they have tea, coffee and coco. Enjoyed being in this historical building to eat. Will visit again next time I’m in Bishop Hill.
