Pulled into the parking lot to see them roasting a pig over an open fire out front. Place smelled so good. Very down how feel. Staff was friendly and attentive. I so wanted the BBQ, but the wife was set on brisket. Which was good but not pink enough for me nor has a crust on it. Which most places do not, that is why I wanted the BBQ. But the brisket was good. The cheese grits were a hit for sure super yummy. Will be back for sure without the wife to try that BBQ.

This place is awesome! The smokers are right beside the outdoor dining and the smell is heavenly. They also have indoor dining but who can resist that smoker smell? The food is so good! Got the half rack of spare ribs and they melted right off the bone. The collard greens are the best I have ever had. The mashed sweet potatoes are great as well as the beans. You cannot go wrong with this place!!

Absolutely the best place to go for lunch. The food is great, I haven’t had anything that I didn’t like and I have tried most of it. Even being right on Manatee Ave the outdoor seating is the way to go. Especially when the smoker is going.

Great BBQ restaurant, just wish the outside seating was more comfortable otherwise it’s a great place to get BBQ and the service was great. I had the sizzling steak and my friend had the pulled pork, both dishes were delicious. Overall a very good dining experience. I can definitely recommend this place.

This is a Must stop!!!! Home soul food cooking at its best!!!! Mac and cheese fried balls are to die for, fried pickles amazing. Then I had the meat platter with BBQ RIBS and beef brisket!!! Unbelievable!!!!! Service was awesome. Yall definitely need to stop here!!!!!!

First timer..got a “to go” order. Small place, friendly staff, good, honest, barbecue. The meat isn’t boiled or steamed so it has a bite. If the meat slides off the bone it’s not real bbq. I’ll be back.

I really wanted to like this place. The smell coming from the smoker was great. The sweet tea was good and the BBQ sauce was good so I was really looking forward to the food. Mac n cheese was pretty good but the chicken was absolutely awful. Probably the worst I’ve had. Maybe they have other things like ribs that are good but I wouldn’t recommend the chicken. My wife didn’t like her brisket either. We both didn’t feel well afterwards.
