The sizzle as you open the door tells you that you are in for a good meal. The smell that follows is divine. The staff were exceptionally kind and the food was fresh cooked and fast. Definitely one of the best burgers I’ve had in Chicago. There was plenty of seating outside with massive umbrellas to protect from the sun even with the lunch rush. Run out to Wicker Park to get a Small Cheval burger!

Didn’t realize the burgers were double and that you get a ton of fries, otherwise we would’ve split an order! Burgers really good, but nothing we’d go back out of our way for. Fries delish, not greasy. I decided to indulge and have a strawberry shake, figuring it would be a “real” one…Made with ice cream and fresh strawberries. Nope, it was just strawberry flavored. It was gross. Only seating is outdoors at picnic tables. Pricey.

I think this is an amazing burger that will never live up to the hype. The burger patties were super rich, well seasoned, and cooked great. I got it home style with the garlic aioli, pickles, and onions. It was a 10/10 burger, but from I heard from numerous websites and people, this should’ve been life changing and it wasn’t. But it was still really good. I’m only giving 4 stars because I want to bring down people’s expectations so they can have a good time.

First time at this establishment and we were very impressed. Yes it’s just a hamberger stand but these people have it down. We went on an early Sunday afternoon. Even though they were busy it didn’t show much because they have a great system and great employees who are on the ball. My wife had a double cheeseburger with bacon on a lettuce bun and was so happy because the way it was made shecould actually hold the food in her hands without it falling apart or making g a mess in her hands.

Prized burger restaurant in the area 🙂 I had high hopes, but the burger was average at best. Loved the beautiful outdoor seating (no indoor), cleanliness, and delicious shakes. Check em out for the novelty alone. Everyone and their mama knows about this place.

We ordered pickup via DoorDash and just had to try this $20 burger! I got the Wagyu Truffle Cheeseburger Special with Golden Fries & side of garlic aoli. I was pleasantly surprised, it tasted like a burger should.. nothing more or less. The service was friendly and our order was accurate.. no complaints

For an Au Cheval NYC fan it was cool to see that there are a few smaller versions around Chicago. The burger was just as amazing but I miss the atmosphere and music of the NY location.

Despite all of the hype surrounding this spot, my first experience was poor. Swaths of to-go orders seem to drive quality down here, and the hype doesn’t match the product. Better burgers elsewhere, in taste and value. Even McDonald’s makes sure they are hot.
