About Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria
Considered the oldest family name in Chicago pizza, Lou Malnati’s is as rich in history as its pizza is in flavor.
Lou Malnati got his start in the 1940’s working in Chicago’s first deep dish pizzeria. He took his pizza expertise to Lincolnwood, a northern suburb of Chicago, where he and his wife Jean opened the first Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria on March 17, 1971. Lou was known for his fun-loving character as well as making Chicago’s best pizza. Loyal patrons lined the streets on opening day for a taste of his delicious deep dish creations. Lou always thought it was funny that an Italian should open a pizzeria in a Jewish neighborhood on an Irish holiday.

Very good pizza. I got personal size with chicken sausage, onions, peppers and mushrooms. Well done and with extra sauce. No problem getting a table around 3pm on Saturday. I liked better than Giordano’s where I got same thing. About $30 with tip for a six inch pizza. I think each topping is too expensive and all adds up.

My first time trying the Chicago style deep dish pizza and it was…disappointing. The pizza was tasty, but was too oily. Also, the crust was hard and didn’t had any flavour to it. I did however like the cozy ambiance and nice decor. The friendly staff made the experience more enjoyable despite the long waiting time.

Everything we had was amazing! From the Caesar salad to the dessert! Pleasant family atmosphere. Our waiter was very attentive. Dessert was in a skillet. On the bottom was a warm chocolate chip cookie, topped with ice cream and whipped cream. Delicious large food portions. Will definitely visit again when in Chicago!

I’ve eaten at Uno, Duo and Giordano and l think this was my least favorite. I will say, they told us there would be a 30-minute wait. It was exactly that. You get to pre-order your pizza so when we finally sat at our table, it was another ten minutes – at most.

Pepperoni and sausage pizza, both deep dish and thin crust, was delicious! The staff was also very kind and courteous. On a side note, we arrived at the restaurant on a Sunday at 5:30pm and was seated right away. However, it became much busier a little after 6:00pm.

I was in Chicago for work and I needed to try a deep dish pizza. I was beyond happy to see they offered gluten free deep dish pizzas. It’s recommended to leave it uncut during travel but staying at the hotel, they had to cut it. Needless to say, the crispy crust, flavorful sauce and spicy kick from the pepperoni was delicious. Definitely dining in if I’m in the Chicago area again
