I stopped in this restaurant honestly to use the bathroom before I hit the highway to St.Louis because garrets popcorn next door didn’t have one.

I had no idea about this place. I was doing my taxes over at Jackson Hewitt and decided to see what there was to eat in the area. All I had to see was peach cobbler I went in and saw a whole buffet of delicious, wonderfully smelling, soul food. You could tell everything was made from scratch. I was on my way out to eat so I just grabbed peach cobbler, caramel cake, and lemonade. Everything was so good! Peach cobbler had the right about of sweetness and I drank the lemonade in 2 seconds. Everyone was so sweet and welcoming, amazing customer service! I’ll be back to try more items on the menu.

I went here for my aunts repass . They had neck bones, smothered chicken and porkchops, turkeys legs, catfish, and a lot of sides to choose from. The strawberry lemonade was great. The desserts were very good. The people working in there had the best personalities and made you feel like they were happy to serve you. This is a hidden gem 10 out of 10.

I love the food and the service but portions are funny like my mom ordered a turkey leg as her protein and that leg was huge so I understand her only getting one, but I ordered the bake fish and was only given 1 piece, for their prices and the fee for take out I don’t think that’s right

When I came in the door everyone greeted me with a positive attitude. I ordered oxtails, mac and cheese and dressing. I couldn’t stop there I had to add greens and sweet potatoes. Of course I had to try their banana pudding and lemonade. Usually when you go somewhere it going to be something you don’t care for. Everything was delicious. I will definitely stop by the next time I’m in the area.

St. Rest No. 2 Country Kitchen is one of the best tasting SOUL FOOD restaurants in the US. Nicely located on the South Side of Chicago with parking available. The food is great with plenty of meat options to choose from along with sides, vegetarian options were available as well. The staff at St. Rest were extremely nice and gracious. I’m glad I gave them a try, will definitely be eating there way more often.

I love everything about this restaurant. The staff amazing, the food always on point and delicious. Its truly a hidden gem on the south side of Chicago. I usually order to go but today I decided to sit and eat with the family. I felt like I was a young girl back at church eating dinner after service. Man what a great feeling. Nothing but good vibes. We’re blessed to still have restaurants like this one after a pandemic that closed a lot of businesses. Let’s continue to support our local black owned businesses!
