We stopped in Saturday at lunchtime on our way to the Brandywine Museum of Art for a snack/light lunch. We liked that the menu wasn’t just another boring average also-ran (horse racing reference).

Soft open was awesome and everything was great. Service and food was all top notch. Will definitely be returning to check out the menu as it changes month to month. BYOB when we went but sounded like they have some other plans in the works for the future, which will be nice as well.

The food here was by no means bad, and we even encountered some flashes of brilliance (like the tea sandwich with crisp chicken skin standing in for bacon). But overall, the meal didn’t feel cohesive to us, the pasta dish was not good (maybe just one off dish, as the other pastas look amazing), and the price was too high, especially given the lack of polish. I feel Sweet Amelia’s is a new restaurant grappling with some identity issues, and has a lot to sort out. But the promise is there, and, with that, plenty of room to grow. I would give them another try some time, but it will be awhile.

Outstanding little spot that I’m sure will not stay under the radar for long. The owner and his wife treated us with sincere hospitality and were accommodating to our toddler. The menu and execution stood out from other local spots. The potatoes were incredible. Other highlights were the chicken skin sandwich, zucchini fritters, and the ricotta French toast.

Sweet Amelia’s is a must visit in KSQ! My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here tonight. Server and owner were extremely warm and welcoming. The food was delish! Having just moved from Philly after 10 years, we appreciated the fresh ingredients, shareable dishes, and seasonal-rotating menu. Sweet Amelias is a great addition to the State St food scene.

Excellent food in a casual atmosphere. We had pasta ragu which I really recommend. The asparagus salad was fresh and the tofu dish was good as well.
