I’m giving them F. I came inside for the first time and spent forty dollars on two meals which is very small portions. The food did look good so I basically had to try each dish aka since they are served in small portion. Time for check out, honey i received nothing but disrespectful cashier with sarcastic mouth I guess that’s their service I will not return. Now this me giving my review I did pay for my meal without a handout honey ijs since the cashier thought I asked for free corn when I said give me some corn she replied give me dead! Little I never mentioned free the others was cool who work there except the little girl. Customer service highly bypass this place as far as the little girl with the scarf on her head Miriam. Not my style, I don’t waste gas or money on foolishness. Next! Food cold! No warmth and cornbread stuck to paper and honey normal cooking I can say it’s for some people as for me I need more quality taste. I will not come back to this restaurant. Corn cold no flavor, cornbread nasty and cold, food seemed like everything poured out of can and served. I rather go to Jewels for this kind of stuff and bought can of corn, collard green, yams same can taste.

Trash, under seasoned, and dry. Somebody lied when they suggested these individuals own a soul foods restaurant. ( That’s why you need honest people in your life) But somebody is keeping them open! who I don’t know! I was told on 5 different occasions don’t F with that place! It’s like somebody is scared to shake the seasoning! At least use house seasoning. Mind you I’ve tried them 3 times because they’re a neighborhood black owned business! And we all have our days! But never again.

I love good life soul food so much that I catch the bus just so I can get some of they good food. The problem is they only give you 2 pieces of meat with your order that cost over $20!! Come on….2 pieces of meat ($5 at the most anywhere else you go) so you mean to tell me that side orders cost me $15+?! What century y’all living in? Never again will I go there!

A few yrs back I visited Chicago from Seattle. None of my family that lives a few blocks from this place had never tried it. So me and my cousin’s decided to check it out. I bought everything they had one day. Next day i wanted to buy everything again and the owner stayed after closing to cook all the food I wanted. He closed at 7 and I picked up my food at 830. I had to show all my Chicago family what they were missing out on. They never heard anyone’s opinion on the place so they never wanted to try it. They said, go to JJs or Harold’s. Well after we feasted they all agreed this place was the best. I have to figure out how to have some food sealed and shipped next-day air. The cost is worth it whatever the price may be. The world needs to know about this place. Someone figure out how to market this place and franchise it. The right minds behind the pushing of this business is all that’s needed. The recipe for success in the food department is top notch. Now let’s get this thing Nationwide. All it takes is someone to believe in it. I already do and I’m not even in Chicago. Maybe a second restaurant in a nicer ( more upper class) location, with plenty of foot traffic. As soon as the masses experience the experience of the food and positive energy that flows through the food into the consumer, they will be hooked. It will become a staple of Chicago soul food dining experience for ages to come. Jazz up the place. Make it a fine dining location. Here in Seattle we have a regular Ivar’s seafood fastfood restaurant and then downtown on the waterfront we have a fancy dine in Ivar’s where u can get lobster and squid and etc….. I made the mistake of going in there randomly and the bill came out to a couple hundred dollars. So if Ivar’s can make a fancy Ivar’s then so can this place. Make the investment. Believe in the dream. Do the work and watch it pay off. If u build it they will come. U just gotta really believe it. Wait I just realized. Who’s gonna read all of this. Lol. Nobody. Oh well. I said my peace. I put the vibes out there in the universe. I hope someone catches them. I’ll end it with , this place is amazing. And I’m no easy sell. Not a square or mark . Don’t have the big neither. Just keeping it real , real honest. Go there eat there enjoy. Ok now I’m done. I’m sure u can tell how much this place has impacted my life after only a few visits a few years ago. It’s that serious. Lol. Ok bye now ✌️

The food used to be delicious, when this place was fairly new. Now, much of it is bland –not at all like my mom’s and grandma’s soul food cooking. They often run out of something, even after being open for only 2 hours! Also, sometimes the food in your carton is wrong. My advice is to get there shortly after they open and CHECK your cartons before paying. I’m going to start going to Morrisons instead!

My first visit to this cafe under the new owners and new name and all I can say is it was ok, The Name did not match what I was hoping to have been a Good experience. Everything was pretty much Basic. The food came out before the silverware and my waffle was very Luke warm. The overall presentation of all 3 plates was basic and they mix plastic and disposable plates and bowls which in my opinion gives your food a different taste.

Soul food dinners are delicious, also you must be patient when ordering fish because they cook it fresh and their service is reasonably fast
