The atmosphere nets two stars, but the rest of my experience left me quite frustrated. The bar was considerably busy during my visit, which was to be expected on a Saturday night. But what was disappointing about my experience was getting served dead last. The bartenders eyes passed right over us for more than twenty minutes, landing on customers who arrived well after we did before ever helping us. Normally I would have just left, but we’d waited so long that we ended up pushing ourselves out of the opportunity to go somewhere else for a drink before our dinner reservation. We’d planned on ordering cocktails, but the service was so slow that we just ordered beers when someone finally deigned to help us. Not really what I was in the mood for, but I guess I’m glad that I saved a little money? I had no desire to stay down in the lobby after this, so we headed for the rooftop for a nice view of Richmond while downing our beers and scurrying off to dinner. A bummer for sure!

This was not a good food day at the quirk hotel.. the ambience is still 5 stars because the atmosphere is very positive and delightful to be in. The staff is also nice and respectful. However, the food was a huge disappointment this time. We both got the Ted Burger and found it to be lacking in flavor and was a tad too oily or greasy. The onion inside was delicious but I was not able to order them on the side instead of fries how I wanted. The bun on the burger became soggy quickly due to them putting the sauce on the bun instead of on top of the burger. The worst were the fries. It had an ungodly amount of salt on them that no addict could endure. It was painful to eat them and had we not been starving they would have sat untouched… then we each got a desert. Both were disappointing. They looked beautiful but tasted meh… the brownie dish was very plain Jane and DRY. The strange whip tastes like air with a touch of discomfort. A scoop of ice cream and minute in a microwave would have went a long way. The banana pudding dish was just too sweet sugary to enjoy. It would have been better with more fruit inside or just less sugar. We barely ate half of each. And they were $11 each..! That’s how overbearing it was and we are moderate eaters of all foods. Meaning we can handle sometimes a little extra salt or sugar we have an American diet but lean on the more heathy side and these were just way too sweet and salty for us to eat. The decaf coffee was very strong / bitter, I’d recommend adding some vanilla or other flavor if you want to tone it down some.

*4.5 STARS* We came here for a Father’s Day brunch. The french toast was delicious! Probably the best I’ve ever had, I’d highly recommend it if you’re coming for breakfast. The rhubarb pieces in it gave it a nice yet subtle crunch. The Eggs in Purgatory was also good, I really liked the fritters that came with it. It was slightly too saucy for me but still enjoyable. Their Quirk Spritz cocktail is okay, nothing special. The inside of the restaurant is very aesthetic and classy! I was definitely a fan of that. It’s perfect for a little brunch date with friends. The service was quick but not very friendly.

Having dined at The Lobby Bar in Richmond twice within the past two months, I regret to say that I will not be returning. On both occasions, they attempted to charge full price during happy hour, citing being “short staffed” as an excuse. The manager’s rudeness and the neglectful service from the waitress were highly disappointing. We had to fetch our own silverware, refill our own water, and even serve our own food. Richmond offers numerous other reasonably priced alternatives, so I strongly advise avoiding this establishment. It is simply not worth the money.

Had a great mother’s day meal with my mom, sister and daughter. Only had the brunch menu to choose from but I understand they have great dinner menu options. The staff was super attentive and very knowledgeable without being overbearing. They did a really nice job renovating the space here at the quirk hotel. Definitely worth a visit.

Brunch was amazing! The basil pesto with the eggs was unexpected but delicious. The potatoes were perfectly crispy. Even the toast was amazing!

Had a fantastic birthday brunch here with friends. Attentive service, nice drinks, and delicious food. Unique dishes on the menu. I got the Eggs in Purgatory. The sauce was just the perfect amount of spice. It’s kind of like shakshuka but with these hush puppy like fritters. My friends got the brussel sprouts and the beet salad. Both also enjoyed their dishes. If you’re looking for a nice brunch spot, definitely consider The Lobby Bar at Quirk.

The Lobby Bar in the Hotel Quirk has a surprisingly tasty selection of food to go along with their imaginative cocktails. It is small plate tapas style allowing for the tasting of a lot of different dishes which I recommend. Had the grilled octopus which was perfectly prepared and not tough, with a great char. The pork sausage was also a nice flavorful bite with collard greens to add the right acidity to the mix. Finished off with the semifreddo parsnip cake and finger lime cream which was heavenly – like a dulce de Leche but with the zing of citrus. This is one case where you actually want to stay in the hotel and not venture outside.

I normally stay away from restaurants in hotels, but this place is an exception. Taking up most of the lobby…ambience is still nice and the food is good. The menu has a nice range of selections and the food looks appealing and photo worthy. Cooked to a good temperature, the duck was good with all the accompaniments and the smoked amberjack appetizer was my favorite part of the meal.

Been here twice the last two weeks. This second time is the last time I will ever come. They try to charge you full price on happy hour all because they are “short staffed.” The first time I was there they said they accidentally charged us full price because the bartender was new, second time was because they were low staffed. The manager is rude, the waitress was awful we had to get our own silverware, own water refills, and own plates. There are a MULTITUDE of other decently priced locations to go to in Richmond. Avoid quirk at all costs. Promise not worth the money.
