Had the absolute pleasure of dropping by Uncle Jim’s for an impromptu bite and it was so worth it! We got the brisket platter and two brisket sliders, all were delicious. The brisket fat melted in your mouth, the Texas toast was incredibly tasty, and the portions were large and worth every penny. We also got to meet the owner, who generously gave us an ice cream sandwich as well. We hope to be back soon!

Uncle Jim’s catered our event over the weekend and it was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend! I had the wings and ribs, and they were perfect. I could tell just by looking at the ribs I wasn’t going to ask for any sauce. Took a big plate home of another round of ribs and a couple gigantic burgers. Tex was a great guy, and will be stopping by the restaurant soon for sure.

We recently had a luncheon catered by Uncle Jim’s Dress Blue BBQ, and it was absolutely delicious! The quality of the meat and careful way it was cooked was absolute perfection. I will definitely be getting take out from them in the future. Highly recommend!

Ordered the brisket and sausage combo plate that came with rice, bread, and corn through Uber Eats. I have had my fair share of BBQ and it sucks to say that I did not enjoy the brisket at all. Fat is not fully trimmed which leaves big strips of chewy, unrendered fat on the outside edges of the brisket which makes the texture really weird and the taste too overwhelmingly beefy and fatty. The meat part of the brisket on the other hand was dry for brisket standards, but edible. Two links of sausages that come with are just okay, a bit too salty for my liking but it was good with the bbq sauce. Side portions were huge which I appreciated and the rice was necessary to soak up all the beef fat from the brisket. Overall, it wasn’t a horrible experience but I would not order again.

Ordered for the first time two days ago. So good I had to go back at least one more time. I really enjoy the wings really creative using army names as the names of the barbecue dishes. Would definitely recommend getting those sliders and the chicken wings.

I’m seeing all the fantastic reviews and wondering if maybe it was a bad day. Pretty hit and miss for me and mostly a miss. Will consider trying again and changing my review to see if maybe it was an off day. Menu on Uber/doordash was a little confusing and considering this is a takeout place it would be nice to see it revised for errors. Would also have loved to see Mac n cheese on the menu and more sides. I will say the value was great for the money for the amount of food you get and amount of meat. I got the lone star deluxe plate, brisket slider, and sides of baked beans and green beans. The baked beans were delicious, though they could have been canned and I wouldn’t have noticed lol. The green beans were pretty were good too, could have used a little pork or something extra but they were not mushy which is nice, they also very well could have come from a can as well. The ribs were huge and meaty- I love beef ribs and It’s not often you see places that do beef ribs instead of pork. However, they were kind of dry- on the same rib one side was so dry and chewy, one part was decent and the other kinda dry. As for the links- The menu said spicy links but I didn’t find it spicy or even flavorful at all. I thought they would be smoked or grilled or something but they taste bland and almost like it was boiled in soapy water. I’m not trying to drag anyone cuz I really wanted to love it but I am telling it like it is. I was very underwhelmed with the rice and elote corn that came with the plate. The rice was dry in some spots but fine in others, the corn was not elote whatsoever. It barely had a sprinkle of salt and pepper and was basically canned or frozen corn. It still tasted good but I was expecting elote or at least a little butter. Definitely the worst for me was the brisket slider. The bun was the only good part. I hate it say it Worst brisket I’ve ever had. It was so chewy and dry and fatty- which brisket is often fatty but this wasn’t tender juicy melt-in-your mouth fat -It was dry chewy gristle. The menu/ picture said it was yellow cheddar cheese on it ,but it looked like it was mozzarella cheese or maybe it was white cheddar IDK there was such a tiny amount on it It would have been better just left off cuz it was just odd like seriously 4 shreds which didn’t mix well with whatever the brisket had going on. I want to try again and maybe get some other menu items down the road and see if it was an off day, but I’m not sure if I want to risk it at this point. Was really rooting for this place.

I happened to be visiting the Richmond area and had the opportunity to try Uncle Jim’s. The pulled pork was AHmazing! It was tender and juicy with the perfect level of smokiness. Not only was the food excellent, the service was remarkable! If you are having a hankering for some great barbecue get yourself some of this deliciousness while supporting an awesome young business owner!

We ran into this place on a Sunday evening. We were so lucky! The food was delicious, the plates were huge and Tex was very sweet with us. He even gave us extra desert and wrote us a note. This place made our night very special. Thanks!

We had a great experience talking to uncle Jim he was kind enough to give us samples of his delicious cheesecake and mango habanero sauce. The ribs were to die for and we’re so looking forward to our next dinner!
