The restaurant is beautiful and very clean. We had beef patties, griot with plantains, Jamaican style oxtails with rice, and cabbage. All of the food was full of flavor and the portions are plentiful. The food and ginger tea was worth the ride. The owner was nice enough to serve us even though we came before they opened. That’s customer service at its best and we have found a true gem.

Stopped here for a quick lunch on our way to Austin from Waco. We were not disappointed! A tucked away gem just east of I-35, we ate quality food made with love and service that felt like we were their old friends.

I really wish I could say something great about this restaurant because when I first stepped in, the place smelled like really good food, the decor was pleasing to the eye and the mirror on the far wall gave me a feeling of a much bigger space. But what I should have taken notice of was the complete and utter lack of diners. A woman finally came and spoke to me about the dishes…I’m assuming she was the owner…and helped me pick out an entree from a menu with no prices…and THAT should have set off at least one red flag for me…but I blithely ignored any intuition. Then after going back into the kitchen after assuring me that everything was made to order I was rung up by her daughter and presented with the check to sign and saw that for goat curry with mushroom rice and peas and a small lemonade came to the grand(read:exorbitant) total of $27 to which I reluctantly added a $2 tip. What can I say? I guess I had my hopes up. Slightly dubious now, I said that I had a nail appointment two shops down and was told my order would be ready in 20 minutes so I went to get my nails done figuring I could wait for this hopefully amazing food. 45 minutes later the owner comes into the nail salon with my order. I was pleased to take the bag from her and feel that it seemed pretty heavy. I open up my to-go container and I am greeted by a overly humongous pile of dark brown rice with a spattering of wilted green peas, a sprinkle of mixed greens, I guess to separate the rice?, from the rather smallish serving of goat meat in curry. At that point, being as how I was absolutely starving, I dug in. And you know how the hungrier you are the better everything tastes? Well this was no different. I was ravenous and couldn’t think past putting several bites into my mouth as quickly as possible. Breathing? That’s the other guy’s problem. LOL. So after eating enough to take the edge off, reality and logic starts to really kick in. I’m realizing that all the weight that I felt initially was just an over-large portion of the rice and pea medley without too much thought to portioning it accordingly to the goat meat. To keep this review from droning on and on, I’ll leave you with this final admonition: this place should not even register on a foodie’s radar as it was way overpriced, way too salty, and took waaayyy too long to be served. Simply put, I’m extremely disappointed and will not be returning.

This place is a hidden gem. I went by on the 1st to order soup and it was well worth it. The soup was delicious. The owner only opened up for soup but since we were from out of town she asked if there was anything she could make for us. Within a few minutes she whip up a favorite just for us. I literally drove back into Dallas in awe that she did that just for us. A+++ customer service and delicious food. Definitely will come back

This place, by far, has the best Caribbean food I’ve ever tasted. It’s cooked to order, so be prepared to spend time talking to your date, having an appetizer, and relaxing. The exquisite flavors and the overall experience are well worth it. Definitely check it out.

I visited the Taste of Miami restaurant for Valentine’s day and it was such a fun experience. They had live jazz and an excellent five course meal. Their menu was a little different from the usual menu, but as usual, they did not disappoint. There was a little bit of a wait because everything was made to order. Totally worth the wait. The best part was how fresh all the food was. So good company and good food. What more could I ask for? We will be back again.

Picture this…the restaurant closes at 10pm, the owner has already sent her staff home WHEN a family of 7 walks in at 9:20pm. The owner could have said the burners are off BUT instead takes off her cute jacket and turns the burners back on! We had the restaurant to ourselves and was treated like VIP. She waited on us, cooked all the food to our liking asking our heat/spicy number, checked on us, and chatted with us. The food was delicious…tasty, plated well and a really nice portion! Can’t wait to come back to take part in the special event nights and try a different entree!

This place is amazing. Yes it takes a little while to get your food BUT it’s cooked fresh when you order. Great for date night, or special occasion dinner. It is BYOB and I’ve even taken a cooler with our adult beverages. So slowdown, relax and enjoy the music while they cook amazing food. I had the Shrimp Creole w/ polenta as my side. So good!

I had the pleasure of visiting the restaurant and meeting the owners during my trip to Dallas, Texas. The decor is relaxing, the place is clean, the owners are warm, and the food is absolutely delicious. I find their prices reasonable, comparatively to what I am used to paying elsewhere for such food service. What else can anyone ask for?
