I traveled to Decatur from Bloomington to do an estimate and consult with WAND TV on a floor care project. When returning to Bloomington, I stopped in Maroa, Illinois to have a late breakfast. It was lunchtime and the server (I didn’t catch her name) said, “ we’ll cook you breakfast.” When traveling I attempt to hunt down small town cafes and diners with fresh food and home town hospitality. I was not disappointed. This staff was super friendly and attentive. They prepare homemade pies which looked delicious and legit. I personally don’t eat a lot of sweets/dessert, but if I did… Bottom line… local folks should support this small business and folks that are traveling to Decatur…. Stop in Maroa before or after and have a nice meal with great service.

The quaint little town of Maroa doesn’t have much but this is the go-to family diner for many. They are no michelin star restaurant but their waitresses work very hard and their service is impeccable. If you’re looking for a hot breakfast or a classic finger food lunch this is your place.

Smokey’s Cafe is the perfect stop for a delicious home style breakfast or lunch! The staff and restaurant manager welcomed us as we walked in the door, and we found ourselves enjoying fresh hot coffee and juice before we even had a chance to browse the menu. The eclectic atmosphere pays homage to the local high school and our fallen heroes and certainly compliments the wide variety of made to order items – be sure to check out the pork roll!
