Food was great, staff is friendly. Service is a tad bit slow to our liking but we didn’t mind it a lot as we got our food super hot and tasty. Ambience is appropriate to the desert climate. Definitely try the margaritas.

Carmelita’s Mexican Grill in Borrego Springs has one of the best Mexican food I have tasted. Whether you would like traditional or other foods Carmelita’s has your taste. We didn’t need to wait for long and the food was amazing! If you’re planning to eat Mexican food then heads up because Carmelita’s has it all! Highly recommended.

I used to live near this restaurant and I was very excited to be able to go back. We loved the food here back then. They have done some beautiful upgrades inside and out, but the food was so disappointing!!! First and foremost they do NOT have a kids menu. When I asked why I was told, oh well everyone prefers to share with there kids or go alacart. We do not. My son unfortunately is very particular. His meal ended up being just about as expensive as ours! My husband and I wanted a combo order and I admit I’ve not seen this before, they have a “basic” option. And if you go beyond basic they nickel and dime you for every single thing. My food was not that great, a friend said it reminded her of del taco sauce. The chips were stale and the salsa tasted like tomato sauce. Service definitely could have been better. We waiting almost 20 minutes just for a glass of water. There are other fabulous options in Borrego but for us this was the last time we will be spending any money at this location.

This was our first time eating at Carmelita’s Mexican Grill, and it was excellent. We ate the traditional and rancheras enchiladas for dinner; they were absolutely delicious. The restaurant itself was very clean and quite spacious, but the good vibe music contributed the most to the atmosphere at Carmelita’s. The staff were courteous and professional; doing everything they could to serve the large numbers of people there. We were very satisfied with the service, quality of the food, cleanliness, and pricing. Hence, if you are craving Mexican food in Borrego Springs, consider eating at Carmelita’s Mexican Grill – don’t just take my word for it!

Got into town and husband wanted to try this place. I love enchiladas and I’m picky about enchilada sauce. It’s always a little different in the southern states we’ve visited. Carmelita’s enchilada sauce was spot on, like yum yum delicious. I felt like I was back in Texas. Margarita was not watered down. Husband’s chicken fajitas came out sizzling and not overcooked. Rancho beans not spicy. We’ll be back to try other dishes before we leave.

Awesome margaritas. Just be prepared to wait. For everything. Like a lot of places, seemed shorthanded, but we weren’t in a hurry so it worked for us. Girls who were working seemed to never stop moving so it’s not for lack of effort. Saw a few others who had seemed annoyed. Only had margs and chips with salsa so can’t comment on food
