Traveling by at 1:30 on a Sunday the restaurant was busy which seemed to be a sign of a good place for lunch. It was amazing! My wife and I had a fried chicken meal with plenty to take home. The food was amazing. It reminded us both of meals our grandmothers and mothers made 50 years ago. The chicken was cut 9 pieces which no one does any longer, real potatoes . The gravy reminded us of cast iron skillet homemade gravy. Looking forward to leftovers in lunch tomorrow!

When I first got there I was excited. I read about it and I thought a new place to try. I asked if the ham was very salty. The server said it wasn’t. It was. If you are someone who is watching their salt intake you don’t want to eat their ham. Yes, I know ham can be salty. Hence, why I asked; not all ham is salty. This tasted like it was cured in a salt mine then rolled in salt for good measure. My husband had the all you can eat catfish he said it was good. We did not share the meats, just the sides. The server quoted us 1 price and when we went to pay it went up $10, then she asked for a tip. Excuse me? I went to the bathroom, my husband asked the server if I could have a refill on my ice tea. When she brought it back she slammed it on the table. We had to ask for more sides, which we got an attitude. I wouldn’t waste my time or money again.

Steve’s restaurant, have you been yet? Down home country cooking. Friendly service and welcoming are the words I hear. Relaxing atmosphere with yummy fish, chicken, and more. Stop in if you are in the area. I don’t think you will be disappointed unless, of course, you are looking for something totally different to eat.

This place just nails it! Fried chicken (in cast-iron skillets!) that rivals the best homemade meal you remember from your childhood, with sides to match. Great service, friendly atmosphere. Gotta go back to try the fish!

Drove down Highway C today through at least two counties shopping at stores along the way. Living in Cuba now we don’t get to Jefferson City that often and certainly not to points west along Highway C. For supper we stopped here at Steve’s Family Style Restaurant. The food was excellent and the service even better. The gravy served with the mashed potatoes was so delicious that it made even a salad taste good.

Great little diner. Loved the fried chicken and from scratch pan gravy. Very few places make gravy like this. The only reason five stars was not given was due to the greenbeans tasting like right out of a can and the chicken pieces were small. I had the 3 piece mixed chicken plate. My wife had a very tasty burger. Both meals were very good. Would definitely recommend the fried chicken but if you are a big eater then go for the five piece plate. The service was excellent and very friendly staff. If you are in the area it is worth the drive.
