For soups and sandwiches you can’t beat the tried and true Eric’s Deli. It’s a chain and I’ve been coming for years. This particular location in Scotts Valley is good, a bit hidden but always parking. We usually get the soup and sandwich combos or when sick we just get a big “pot” with a piece of bread. It’s wholesome food and reminds me of the 80’s when everyone was putting sprouts in sandwiches (you can get that here!)

1 of the places I have to eat at when I’m back home. This really goes for any of the Erik’s deli’s. I pretty much get the same thing every time chicken pesto sandwich and a the clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. Always wonderful and in all of my travels it’s something I have never had anywhere else.

About two years ago, my wife went here and had a soup that was rancid. When she asked for new soup or a refund the employee was rude and dismissed her. I use to live by a different Erik’s that I loved, so occasionally when I’m with my wife and we want to go out I offer Erik’s, she always brings that terrible experience up. Today I said that was a while ago maybe they are better now, I convince her to give it a shot. We ordered, her sandwiched tasted off, I tasted it and it was real bad. After my sandwich I spread my dressing on my salad the dressing was old and smelled and tasted off. We were done and bussed our table and left. They serve spoiled food, we are never eating here again.
