We’re Pueblo Viejo Mexican Restaurant, and we’ve been a premier Mexican restaurant in Algood, TN since 2009. We specialize in authentic Mexican cuisine, handmade tortillas, and margarita specials. We offer tacos, chimichangas, burritos, steaks, fajitas, table-side guacamole, and much more. We are passionate about making all of our food from scratch and using the freshest ingredients while providing an enjoyable dining experience for all of our guests. Quiet little Mexican dive where you can hear yourself think and the owner and waitstaff remember you by name. This became one of my family’s favorite places during the pandemic. The food is what you’d expect, a little better than some places around here. Not usually crowded. Good spacing between tables. The service is fast and friendly, which is why we keep coming back.

I rated 5 stars across the board cause yes it is that good. We have the same server every time we eat here and she is so nice the place is always clean and the food is great. The salsa they serve is also better than most places in town. We usually get the fajita nachos which is a good choice in most Mexican restaurants but this one in particular is a great portion size. We bring food home every time and the prices aren’t bad.

Was nervous to try this restaurant based on its 3 star google review, but so glad we gave it a chance. This is hands down the best Mexican food I’ve had in Algood/Cookeville. The staff was friendly and the food tasted fresh and delicious. The regular size margaritas were huge (see photo). I can’t wait to go back and try something else. Pictured is the house special Carnitas plate and the Chicken chimichanga.

We’re from Texas so we’re pretty picky about Mexican food. We’ve been eating here for 11 years and it’s still our favorite! Tons of flavor (as opposed to some of the other places), authentic recipes, and the nicest staff you will ever meet.
