We are a small quick bite restaurant that is owned and ran by two sister in-laws that joke about being old and fat and only having one speed. What we want is for our customers to bring the kiddos in and enjoy the food and maybe play some games while you wait. We love meeting new people and making new friends that want to come back year after year.

Fried cod was delish, coleslaw was different compare to what I had before and this one so far is better than most (it’s on a sweet side), chowder was a bit thick for me, but still good. The overall ambience was relax, so it was a really nice experience.

Wow! Our fish was excellent! Fresh, flaky and crispy. The fries where crispy on the outside soft on the inside and seasoned perfectly. Coleslaw (even though I don’t like coleslaw) was surprising good with, I think cranberries in it (or a type of raisin). Service was very friendly and attentive however a little slow to receive food. Its expected when you make food from scratch. Overall we where extremely happy with Captain Bob’s Chowder.

For a place with chowder in the name I thought it would be great. We ordered 2 cups and sadly, it was the saltiest chowder I’ve ever tasted in my life. Everyone that worked there was friendly. Maybe fish and chips would’ve been a better option?

I come all the from Montana just to eat here! Seriously though, it’s the ONLY place that is an absolute must stop when we come out every summer. The 2 gals who run it are awesome. They really make you feel welcome and the cod is AMAZING not good, not ok, but excellent my FAVORITE fish and chips in the country! They bread instead of batter the fish so it’s not super oily or greasy and huge portions. Thank you ladies so much for giving me motivation to drive 18hrs Seriously THANK YOU! If you’re reading this and you like fish and chips do yourself a favor and stop looking. You won’t find better, trust me, I’ve looked. There’s not a better place for fish and chips in a 400mi radius, at least.

The fish was excellent in the fish n chips. The clams were good. The corn dogs where good. The clam Chowder was extremely unpleasant. The base of the chowder seemed to be dry potato flakes or flour which ruined the chowder in my opinion.

Chowder is delicious and staff are great. The only thing that I would like to see improvement on is they way they go about their wait list. That really needs to be fixed somehow. One thing that really impressed me was a table ordered something the chef was one short of, clam or oyster thing, and he told the wait staff to give it to the table and not to charge them for it.

We went for clam chowder, but it was disappointing. I don’t know if it was a bad day, but the clams were extremely chewy & tough. The base had a grainy potato texture, not creamy, but thick. The flavor wasn’t bad, but we had trouble getting past the clams. It definitely ruined it for us.
