I was not expecting to have a great seafood meal outside of South Padre Island! Buddy’s Plate (fish,shrimp,two sides) was excellent. The fish fillet and shrimp were lightly breaded and deep fried but still very light, moist and tasty. Great seasoning. Everything was fresh (seafood, fries) and made to order. Nothing on my plate tasted like it was pre-packaged or came out of the freezer.

We had a family lunch on Holy Friday. Called them up all we wanted Fish and Hush puppy. Our meal was the talk of our luncheon everyone LOVED it. Thank You so much for your AMAZING Food . We are going back again

The food is delicious and the customer service is really good. The restaurant is so clean and the them just looks amazing. the only negative thing I do have to mentioned is that is took us a while to get our order. Other than that I really enjoyed the restaurant and the food! I will definitely go back again! 🙂

Ok my first time here and it was excellent!!! I went with a friend who had never been there before also we both thought it was just a home in downtown Mission at first but anyway it’s a great restaurant!!! We didn’t know the business hours and to our surprise we got at 6:50pm and they closed at 7pm. But they hadn’t turned off the stove so they sat us and took our order. We had the Pop’s plate I believe was the name of the dish it’s great you won’t be disappointed. With green beans and fries. The sweet ice tea is a must because it’s not the powder tea. They have plenty of tables for small or large groups. The staff was very friendly and nice. Bottle line you can’t go wrong dining here, so bring your appetite because the meals here are large!!! You won’t be able to finish your meal at least not on your own. I highly recommend this establishment and I’ll be returning soon for more fish and shrimp!!!

Hands down the best fried fish and shrimp around. The fries were also very good. We took our food to go, but the ambiance in the restaurant was very cozy and welcoming. The staff were also very friendly and accommodating. My husband and I enjoyed perusing the historical photos of old Mission at the register counter while our food was prepared. The owner (Bobby…sorry if I misspelled it) came out to greet us and was very friendly. She sent us off with our order and some amazingly delicious soup she wanted us to try. I’m so glad she did because that soup was PHENOMENAL! I even called the restaurant to tell her so myself. I don’t why we’d waited so long to try Southern Fried, but I guarantee it won’t be long until we’re back again.

Very awesome and quaint place. I love the intimate feel they have created here. It’s not often I come across extremely fresh cooked food but they definitely accomplished this. I ordered the fish basket and a water with limon. Next time i’ll add shrimp. Very inexpensive food and an adorable waitress who was very helpful. Will definitely be back for more!!!!

Our first visit. Just looking at the menu/prices seemed pretty expensive. However, the portions were large and the food was very good. We especially enjoyed the coating on the fish, the size of the shrimp, the home made french fries. I appreciate that the tomatoes were sliced in half, and the flavor was very good! We will definitely return.
