AMAZING. My son said she deserves “a billion stars”. The food is full of love- and the owner is truly special, one of a kind. I chose the eggplant stew, which was delicious, but I stole some bites of his beef stew and that was to die for!! Disregard any negative reviews, this place is a special gem in Frederick County. Much love to the owner, she was one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met.

Went to this wonderful restaurant today with my partner and enjoyed what was legitimately some of the BEST food I’ve ever had here at Motherland Kitchen. The owner was super sweet and helpful with deciding what kind of fufu to get with my meal as I’d never had it before. Wound up with goat stew and corn fufu and when I tell yall it was so good I could’ve cried, I’m not lying. The stew was so flavorful, like a bowl full of the atmosphere of the autumn season and hot and fresh and was overflowing with comfort and warmth of emotion. You can genuinely taste the love poured into this dish. It came fast, hot, fresh, and I’d absolutely recommend for anybody whether you be a meat eater or a vegan!

My fiancé and I decided to stop by this place after a recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint!! He got the ox tail with rice and beans with fried plantains and I got the egusi with fufu. Everything was amazing and the cook is the sweetest woman. All I can say is that we will definitely be coming back!!!

Finally!! I found a restaurant that serves real home cooked food. This is my fourth visit here and every time it was delicious. If you like African or Caribbean food, Motherland Kitchen is a must. The service was personal. I highly recommend. A big plus for me was she serves real hot sauce. The food here is REAL food..

DELICIOUS! If you are ever around Frederick, add this little gem of a find restaurant on your list to try. For African and Caribbean homemade recipes that you will not find in any other restaurant. It was like morsels of love from my grandma. YUMMY!! We had peanut butter chicken stew with yam fufu, and a seafood stew (salmon, shrimp and veggies) with a lightly flavorful rice that matched it perfectly. So, of course we wanted the scoop of the chef. Ms. Sabina, the chef, shared with us her story- that she gave up her technology corporate job to pursue her dream, of sharing love through food. Mission accomplished. Her food definitely does that. WOW!

This is my new favorite spot to treat myself! The food is always amazing and fresh. The oxtail stew and a goat stew are incredible with diverse flavors to appease any palate. The corn fufu is a must have with any meal! Three greens is one of my favorite sides. Don’t forget the beef Patties! Staff will make you feel welcomed and can help you find your new favorite dish. Great food all in all with great friendly staff behind it.

I am from Georgia. I was informed this was one of the best african restaurants, so I tried the Oxtail with red beans and rice with plantains off of her suggestions of what I may want… It did not disappoint!! I enjoyed my meal while also stealing food from my friends plate . Finished off my meal with an ambrosia fruit dessert. Since I am a texture eater it did not satisfy my palet but it did taste delicious. I have enjoyed the experience and would recommend to anyone wanting to try/learn about african cuisine!!

This was my first time trying African food and I couldn’t have been more pleased. The chef and owner came out to make sure I was happy with my meal and I can assure you this won’t be my last time dining at the restaurant. Make sure you ask for hot sauce if you like spicy because that was also very delicious!!
