As our first visit to La Taverna, we were attracted by the fact that the restaurant is chef- owned, in addition to recommendations from friends. Our dining experience did not disappoint. While in a strip of businesses, the restaurant is very Italian and cozy inside. The menu selections are more than ample, and the portions are generous. Our server, Morgan, was professionally attentive and ensured a positive dining experience. Our calamari appetizer was good, but not great. It was lightly breaded as it should be, but I think the product and presentation could have been better. However, the quality, flavor, and presentation of our main dishes make me quickly forget the calamari. My wife and I both ordered the scallopini di pollo – she selected the Taverna, and I chose the Gorgonzola option. Both dishes were superb in texture and taste. I must say the Gorgonzola version may have won by a nose! We look forward to returning and sampling other selections on the menu. I would love to see the restaurant offer a dish with squid ink, as I am confident they would perform admirably. A great dining spot all around.

I can’t believe in all the years I’ve been coming here, that I haven’t left a review.

Decided to try this place out. It was nice inside. I loved the garlic cheese bread! Really good food and great service. The only problem was that it was kinda expensive. Ended up paying $115 for the two of us.

BEST PIZZA!!! For real best pizzza in the upstate (Clemson, Seneca, Greenville and Spartanburg) and even the best I have had in the South East. Tried others in Charleston and Columbia and this White Pizza is perfection!! Prices are reasonable and ingredients top notch! Perfect crust and ratio of ingredients. Can’t wait to try the pasta! This is our GO TO from now on!

The only thing I liked was the fries and sweet tea.. the food tastes like great value frozen food… the Stromboli was ok… they charge a ton for sauce or a side.. the salad looked pitiful.. this our first and last visit… I don’t recommend…

Well Italian cuisine is not necessarily my favorite cuisine so I opted out of the pasta and sauce type dishes and went with a favorite of mine, shellfish and vegetables. The mussels were sauteed in a white wine butter sauce that was good. It could have been seasoned a bit better(herbs, salt, and acid) but overall solid sauce. The vegetables, which was my side dish, were perfect. Seasoned, cooked perfectly, delicious. Honestly, wanted a second order.

I’ve ordered pizza several times from here since I moved. This is the closest to New York style pizza I could find around here. Quality and freshness of ingredients comes through every time. I should stop by for dinner sometime, the ambiance is elegant and quaint, the staff is friendly and welcoming.

The owner is not pleasant. She is rude and stingy with butter . The pizza is the best in the upstate. All the rest of the food is subar and not authentic Italian recipes. Pretty expensive considering the pasta isn’t even homemade. I don’t think the sauces are fresh, but I can be wrong. The service is always hit or miss. The environment and staff aren’t friendly, energetic or joyful at all. They will make you wait with open tables till your entire party arrives. We’ve had kids screaming in our party and while seated we have seen other parties waiting for tables with antsy kids waiting for tables that are open. Not flexible at all.

Being completely honest, the food was not my favorite but was not bad. The service was not that great but i completely understand the shortage of personal. Something that I really love was the spumoni which was a delicious ice cream (chocolate, strawberry and pistachio I would think because was green) I rush to eat it so I completely forgot about the pictures. The really positive thing was that the price was really cheap.

This place serves some of the best Italian food I have had the pleasure of eating. Excellent service and just a great atmosphere. I had the Saltimabocca Alla Romana , veal with prosciutto and spinach and the wife had Al Salmone. Just a wonderful experience. Please try this place, you will never go back to the big chain restaurant across the street.
