Fried zucchini: amazing. Probably the best I’ve had. Steak fried chicken: delicious. Shredded chicken tostada: fantastic. The dining room is clean, the restrooms are clean, and the music is classic. I will be coming back here the next time I’m at the Safari Park.

I always drive by here and my husband and I decided to stop by for lunch on a whim! First impressions was the interior was a little dated, but it was really clean. I didn’t get the sticky maple syrup seat feel like I get at Denny’s. Service was great and the prices looked pretty good too. My biggest issue was the food. I ordered the ground beef steak with gravy and onions on top and my husband ordered the meatloaf. The ground beef steak was REALLY bland, like it just tasted like cooked ground beef. Not even adding salt would make it better. The gravy on top tasted like it came from a package because it tasted really similar to the package gravy I use at home. I returned the ground beef steak because it just wasn’t enjoyable to eat. The waitress was very nice and took it back and took it off our bill. I instead shared some of my husband’s meatloaf which also needed salt, but it at least had other seasoning in it. I get the feeling this is more of a breakfast place, but if a dish isn’t good don’t put it on the menu. To me, if I can cook something on par or better than what I order, then it’s not worth going to. That was our impression after eating at J&M’s.

If you think the photos of the dishes look good, the food tastes better. The servers are friendly and the cooking is exceptional. We love to go here for breakfast any day of the week. You’re guaranteed to see a room full of J&M’s fans! We loved the tender packages and the non-traditional dishes. Everything is cooked the way it should be and the great flavor is the proof.

First visit at this restaurant was today with my granddaughter.. I had a taco salad which was larger than I expected, (with plenty of sliced guacamole!). My granddaughter had fruit and half a grilled cheese sandwich which she enjoyed. Our waitress along with who I think was the manager were very pleasant. The atmosphere has a 50’s feel.

This is the place we’ve been looking for! After The Wagon Wheel closed down (off Mission and Center City) we have been wanting a yummy family restaurant nearby and happened upon this little gem. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was easy with our two loud kids. Our server, Kimberly, was attentive, sweet and had a smile the entire service. The proprietor came to our table to say hi. The only thing I would gripe about is the food prices (but nowadays everything is expensive). We will definitely be back. My two kids had pancakes (and wouldn’t stop talking about how delish they were) my husband and I each had a burger, fries/onion rings and a small salad.

J&Ms Family Restaurant has the BEST French Toast in Escondido… in the County of San Siego They are my favorite because they are classic, the way my mom used to make homemade french toast . I LOVE and appreciate their home-cooked style. They have many of my favorites foods like chilaquiles, fish and fries, Alfredo pasta with shrimp or chicken, and desserts! The battered fish is absolutely the best, super fresh and crispy. The fresh and warm Cinnamon Rolls are to die for!!! Better than donuts! The hosts, managers, and cooks are all very attentive and warm. It really fells like home, family . Super clean Restrooms ✨Love the booth seating space: Its private with nice window views. They have a private indoor space to host very large groups for birthdays! And also a beautiful outdoor patio I would want to host a birthday in the future.
