Hosted a baby shower and was looking around for authentic Jamaica food to served my guest. Came across this restaurant while googling. I must say this was my best pick. They offered catering and delivery. I ordered two trays of rice and peas. Two trays of curry goat, trays of curry chicken, tray of rastapasta, stew fish, evcovfish, steam cabbage, oxtail and plantains. Everything was well prepared and tasted like back home. The staff is very friendly and professional. Thank you Mr. Chin and Thank you to your staff.

Solid place, the owner Chin himself served me and the food was really good. It’s a small business restaurant, he’s really cool and cooks his own food…. calm cool chill place.

I have always strayed away from eating at this place and I think I know why. I decided to give this place a try because I was craving some beef patties. I decided not to get them because they look unappealing to eat. Just dried up as if they were sitting there since yesterday. I tried the red peas soup and the rice and peas with brown stew chicken. THE RED PEAS SOUP does not taste like red peas soup. It tasted sour and almost over salted to the point I wanted to puke. This is not how Jamaican food taste and it’s misleading foreign minds as they think that’s how it’s supposed to taste.

This place was amazing, friendly people, and the food had me and my family dancing in our seats as we ate. Definitely worth every penny. Would visit again.

They mad cheap with food $15 for a plate of 3 pieces of chicken that are chopped up so your getting half a pieces and 4 dumplings so in total u getting 1 pieces of chicken and a half of another one. They don’t have small dishes so your only choices are med and large. The rice taste horrible and is mushy the owner is great but his employee need basic customer service training. Tg this is not the only Jamaican restaurant in yonkers

I tried the large oxtails w/ rice and peas and cabbage. The food tasted great! However, the oxtails were extraordinarily fatty. So, I paid $17 for fat and very little meat. Disappointing. I will not return. This was too expensive to not get what I paid for.

The food was bland, rice was mushy. Precautionary measures were not taken in light of the current pandemic we are experiencing and the place could have been a bit cleaner. I love supporting independent businesses , but I feel that all businesses have to show how much they value their customers with the quality of their food and how they present themselves.

Always know as Backyard Grill. This Jamican food is amazing!!!! We got the Fresh Fried Red Snapper and The Spicy Shrimp! The food is amazing! Unlike other places this food is not greasy and super tasty. The serving sizes are HUGE! It’s a very small spot no glitz no glam but the food is so GOOD! We absolutely love seafood and this spot has it covered! Love love love it! Rice and peas, candie yams, plantains, cabbage, jerk chicken and shrimp just to name a few amazing dishes!!! Def a must try!!!
