This is a great AYCE sushi spot! The rice to fish ratio is amazing, so that means you can try more rolls without feeling so full! Definitely coming here again!

My wife and I have a cherished tradition: every Friday, we either dine in at a sushi restaurant or order for pick-up. Over the past 6 years, we’ve indulged in over 300 sushi meals across various establishments. Given our extensive experience, it’s safe to say we have a keen palate for sushi. However, our recent visit to Umi Sushi, recommended by a friend, left us deeply disappointed.

Reno has some great sushi places. Umi Shushi is not one of them. The sushi itself is OK, but the rolls are very small. About the diameter of a quarter. Some ingredients listed are not present when you receive your order. For example, the San Francisco roll says it has Siracha sauce. Ours came without. The staff was nice, but we had to constantly ask about items we ordered. I know this sounds like I’m being an A-hole, but when you are halfway done with your meal and your child still has not received a simple bowl of rice… ♂️, at a sushi place no less. On top of it all, we then waited over 15 minutes for ice cream. The place wasn’t even busy.

it was good but i wish the sushi cuts were bigger. i had to eat like 300 nigiri and i was only 25% full, still starving. they forgot two rolls at the end and i felt pressure not to ask. idk maybe i should have asked but come on, i ordered it… should have just made what i asked for without making it awkward. im going to spend the extra 10$ and go to Oceano instead way more worth it

Price was awesome, especially loved the kids AYCE price. Fish smelled and tasted fresh, Rolls were flavorful, unlike a lot of places Umi does not over power the fish with sauces (which always seems like a cover up for using old/below sushi quality fish). Also their menu isn’t over run with cream cheese, which thrilled me. (I don’t know who started that cream cheese maki trend, but they suck and should know it). Mussels were excellent, and the Cotton Candy roll was exceptional. For 8 years, I have had to warn friends visiting that Smiths is the type of sushi to expect in NNV, now I can’t wait til I’m hungry enough for AYCE cuz I will drive the 3 counties distance for Umi (also, the name is just so spot on with the freshness of the fish)

Wonderful variety of sushi presentations, all well prepared and delicious! The food prep guys do an exceptional job on all menu items. We wish they spoke and understood English better, but they are friendly and try very hard to please. We will go back!

Umi Sushi is a unique and wonderful place to go when you have new people trying sushi. We are addicted to this place and enjoy the chefs and their lovely food presentations. The food is fresh and delightful, and we’re looking forward to seeing them again today. For the price, it’s so worth it!

The food was great I won’t lie, but the service was horrific. There was my family and two other families, three servers and we would be tended to maybe every 20 minutes. We got all you can eat and every time we ordered there would be missing parts of order. We would tell them and still not get them and have to order again. We never got quail egg shooters and ordered them three times. When we would get service they were short and didn’t seem to care or want to make the sushi night enjoyable. We really enjoyed the food but the lack of communication and attentiveness was really unfortunate. We live right around the corner and unfortunately we won’t be going back and we look for the next close sushi place with hopefully a better atmosphere and staff.

1st experience was amazing! I’m new to the sushi world and very picky and I definitely loved this place. I asked for rolls with out certain ingredients that I don’t like and they got it right every time! 10 out of 10. And the service was excellent
