The food is pretty good. I’d prefer fresh vegetables, but they are definitely canned. I love the cabbage. I have not tried the canned yams. Service was ok and there is no atmosphere. One wouldn’t know it’s a restaurant from the looks of the outside.

The food was just okay. I will say the rice and peas are some of the best I have ever had but everything else was just blah. The yams were canned. The curry was mediocre. The oxtails were okay. Nice sized portions. I doubt I would go back.

The oxtails are huge and tender. The jerk chicken is flavorful. This place is my #1 spot in VA. I drove 30mins from house ONE way just for a plate. It lasted me 2 days. HIGHLY recommend.

Happy Time is a hit EVERY TIME ! Everything is seasoned well and you get large portions for your buck. My favorites are the oxtails, Mac and cheese, cabbage, yellow rice, and yams. If you are ever in Portsmouth stop by this gem and you will not be disappointed

I’ve been here 4 times so far and I am now a ferm customer. I get the curry chicken or jerk with rice & peas or sometimes yellow rice, the cabbage is nice, but I always get yams.. If your from Portsmouth and you like Jamaican food cooked right every time, and at a good price come here
