Our party of 3 went on a Thursday night with high hopes of trying a restaurant. 2 people in our party have varied food service experience , with over 40 years of cooking and working in the hospitality industry, from mom and pop shops to 5 star establishments, also C.I.A graduates. (’93 & ’95)

First time in the Catskills and the restaurant in my hotel was closed due to an event being hosted. Found this on Google and was about 25 minutes drive away. Also didn’t realize so many places are closed on Wednesday! We ordered too much since we wanted to try. The stuffed mushrooms were great! Some cheese and meat was part of the breaded stuffing. The tomato soup was pretty good also. Couldn’t figure out the matter stringy meat that was in the soup. Crab cakes were quite good too. The fish taco was great. It is ahi seared with a black seasoned crust. It was half cooked. I normally don’t like uncooked fish but I couldn’t tell it was half cooked. The Asian chicken wrapped in lettuce was good too. It was a little sweet with some hint of ginger, topped with some crunchy noodles. I wanted duck so we tried the citrus duck with some home fries on the side. Duck wasn’t even warm and some of it was really gamey, but the other sections tasted fine. The skin wasn’t crispy. Didn’t like it. The seared scallops were good except it was a little on the salty side. It came with rice which was a little under cooked and spinach which was amazingly good. The last dish was shrimp and linguini. It was sour and wasn’t crispy. I understand why it was sour. They were trying to cancel out the heaviness of the dish since it is very oily. I’m not a fan of lemon shrimp. We didn’t have room for dessert. The service was great. All in all I would recommend this place as it seems to be the only good place I saw on Google.

The food at Modena was spectacular. The steak special was absolutely perfectly cooked and the flavor was incredible. The local green beans served with it achieved that state where they are cooked just right to pull the full flavor, yet still maintain their crispness. That is very hard to do, especially at a restaurant. We also had the meats and cheeses platter which surpassed some of the best NYC restaurants in both taste and portion size. Others in my party had the sea bass special which was also cooked to perfection, deliciously seasoned, with a light and buttery texture. The greens and beans is a favorite of ours from that famous restaurant in Albany, and did not disappoint! We did have to ask for bread, but that may not be a standard here as many restaurants don’t serve it automatically anymore. When it arrived, it was hot with a crispy crust and the butter was the perfect temp for spreading but still cool enough to keep its flavor. For dessert we had the tiramisu which is honestly the best I’ve tasted, the flourless chocolate cake which was unreal, and raspberry sorbet which I couldn’t stop eating, despite being stuffed. The owner waited on us half the time, which was truly lovely, but I do hope they are able to find some additional wait staff as they would have been crushed if it had been a busier night. Not having enough help is common these days so hopefully patrons will understand. The food is well worth coming back and I can’t wait to visit Modena again. So many times I’m disappointed at restaurants but every dish was perfect and we are still raving!

Food was very tasty but portions were very small . I had shrimp capellini. 4 med. shrimps. Wow . Every thing is a la cart . Even a little vegetable and my wife’s chicken marinara , the pasta was a la cart. That’s unheard of. Bar tender and service people were very pleasant. Quite pricey for what you get. !

I’ve been to Modena (formerly Mountain View Brasserie) a couple times and both experiences have been wonderful. Delicious Italian food with great service. Greenville is lucky to have this place.

We had a party of 6 at 7:30 Saturday night and a good time was had by all over the couple of hours we stayed. Given there were few reviews and they are so new we did not know what to expect, and our experience was so positive we were all still going on about it the next day. I will give a detailed review below – but you don’t need to read it, this place is well worth your time and money. I will be back soon.

Most of the food was good. The service was very inexperienced and made many mistakes. I know this place is just starting up and I wanted to cut them some slack because the food for the most part was good. The virgin mojito first was served with alcohol. It lacked any flavor. When the error was fixed it was just sour. The stake that way my wife ordered was supposed to be medium. They asked about it twice and then delivered it rare. They were nice enough to take it over the bill, but it kind of soured the experience there were other things. Bottom line, this place is just starting and I wish them all the best. I would love to come again, maybe in a year when they have everything figured out.

We were first public customers after their soft opening on Monday may 30th and were very impressed. Servers were very attentive, ambiance was good and food was impressive. We had the bruschetta and it was tasty and well presented. We shared a Caesar salad and had entrees that were both very tasty. We finished with the tiramisu that was very fresh and a fitting end to a very nice evening. P.S. kudos to our waitress, Emily.

We ate here for the first time tonight. The food, service and ambiance were all impeccable. The food cost is in line with the high quality so it is expensive!
