I had been here several years ago and loved it. My family and I returned last night excited to be there. It was a bit chaotic because some bad weather had moved in the area but we were bound and determined to enjoy a good meal there. The servers were young and a bit inexperienced- our order took over an hour (4 people) and when I approached the young lady about possibly having some more bread brought out she told me there was a charge. By this point we were all pretty aggravated but would have paid the charge just to get some food! When our order arrived for the second time ( the first time they brought food that belonged to the only other table in there) it was definitely disappointing…very bland and about half cold. I’m not sure what happened to the place I loved years ago but yesterday’s visit will be the last 🙁

I was the only customer ( I got there about 2pm, so the lunch crowd was over)but the service was slow, and I had to ask for silverware when my food was served. I has the lunch special and Italian Beef sandwich with fries which was just okay, the beef was a little tough. The flavor was just OK nothing bursting with flavor, not bad, but not worth writing home about. Serving size was good and price was reasonable $7.05 with tax.

Amazing chef always on duty with the help of his lovely wife this restaurant can’t be topped! The food is amazing always! Great atmosphere. I love that there are two dinning choices bar room (for a casual loud fun night ) and the tea room ( if your wanting a quiet relaxed dinner ) .

My husband and I are thrilled to hear that Bongo’s Bistro is open again. It has been our all time favorite and best loved restaurant for both of us. The prime rib is the best we have ever had, and my husband has ordered it probably 50 times. I explore the rest of the menu (I get a few bites of his) and think chef Aubrey is a masterful chef. I have never had a bad meal there and we have been fans since before the tornado took them and most of Stockton out some years ago. The staff is always nice, especially Cher, and the prices are not high for the quality of food. The same dinner in Springfield would be 10$ to 15$ more each. The alfredo sauces and pastas, the fish, the wine sauces, are perfection. The salad with house dressing is the best ever. We drove 30 miles twice a month to eat there for years, and can’t wait to go this weekend, now that we heard that they have reopened. My kids learned to appreciate good dining there and will agree with this review, too.

My husband and I live in El Dorado Springs (about 30 minute drive from Stockton) and decided to try out Bongos since it had wonderful reviews. If I could give two and a half stars I would. The entire experience was okay as a whole but our food was terrible. Our server was very friendly but obviously had his hands full. Upon entering the restaurant there was no “seat yourself” or “wait to be seated” sign so we stood at the door awkwardly for bit before someone told us it was seat yourself. When we sat down our server came very quickly and was very friendly and did a good job of answering our questions and telling us the special and things . Our server was easily the best part of the evening. My husband and I both ordered pasta with salads and breadsticks, and then a fried potato appetizer. Our app. took a good twenty minutes to come out and were freezing cold on the inside but the place was busy so we just ignored it, since we still had entree’s coming. Another twenty or so minutes later our meals came out (we never did get salads) and they were terrible. My spaghetti was extremely sweet and the pasta was definitely just from a cheap box of spaghetti. Both mine and my husbands bread sticks were very tough and dry and his looked like it had been smashed and left for a while before they served it. We spent about $40.00 for a meal that could have easily been made by a child. Overall the restaurant may have tried to make our experience a little better had we complained out loud but I personally hate having to complain to get good food when I go out. Was very disappointed. We won’t be dinning here again.

Going to Stockton Lake from KC, my wife and I ate at Bongo’s a couple of years ago. The place was busy (popular) I remember rather crowded during a 7ish-8ish dinner time. But we enjoyed it and wanted to go back sometime.

A romantic rendezvous type place. I’m sure they have child’s menu options, but it’s not ‘kid friendly’. Italian menu, ambiance. I had stuffed mushrooms, macaroni and cheese, and a cannoli. So good! There’s a full bar also, but I’m not into drinking much. Besides, I’m working tonight.

The food was good, the service was very good. The portions are small and for most meals you pay extra for salad. The bread was the best thing on the menu. Prices are a little high for a meal without salad.

Good was “OK”. Had to ask for a refill and was brought out a half can of soda and was told I could have it. My boyfriend never did get a refill on his tea. Then the waitress put ticket on the table and said, ” Are you ready to leave?”

First visit here since re-opening. We will definitely be back. Pizza was delicious. Prices are extremely affordable. This may be our go to place with friends.
