Let me just say, it is not what we were hoping for. We, like many others had heard the buzz around Christopher’s for many years, so last night we finally decided to try it. Service was good, drinks were great, food was the real weak point. Nothing we had was amazing, it was all about average or below.

We’ve enjoyed several dinners at Christopher’s. Their menu is varied, and it includes several seafood entrees. Service is attentive and experienced. If you enjoy shrimp cocktail, theirs arrives at the table with four very large shrimp. The servings are large, and there is always something to take home. A good wine list, and several delicious desserts round out their offerings. We highly recommend this restaurant.

I don’t get it. It was really expensive and the food was bland. A step above what you’d get in a hospital. The fish tasted old and frozen. I could barely choke down the breading. The salad was limp and the raspberry dressing tasted metallic.

Christopher’s was a great experience in every way. It is a little pricey, but it’s a nice environment with excellent customer service. We walked right in and got seated at the bar immediately. The bartenders were super friendly throughout the whole meal and made us feel welcome. I will be returning next time I’m in Des Moines!

THE neighborhood spot. Friendly staff welcome and accommodate parties as they are able. Christopher’s is the place to go so it is always busy after 5:30. The menu is large the cocktails are solid and the kids are always happy to eat here. The pasta dishes have some authentic Italian roots and the pizzas are perfectly crispy. Appetizers are family sized and usually have us full before the meal comes.

Did a pickup order, and they have you pick it up at the bar, which was full of people, we stood there for a good 5 minutes before even being acknowledged. Would be better if they had a dedicated take out counter. The staff was less than friendly, and the food was very bland. Would not recommend.

Was disappointed after not having dined here for many, many years. Waitress was efficient, pleasant & friendly. The salad was good, as was the house dressing, but the lettuce could have been chilled more. The bread was good, but it wasn’t warm. The most disappointing was the chicken in lemon caper sauce with olives. I thought it would be served over pasta. And the chicken breast was tough! I would have commented on this to the waitress, but I was with a friend who would have been embarrassed. So I took it home so I could make pasta to eat with it & hope it would be more tender (but it wasn’t). Doubt if I will be back.
