recently had the pleasure of stopping by the Atlantic City Mercantile for lunch, and I must say, I was absolutely captivated by the Wyoming rustic atmosphere that greeted me. As I entered, I couldn’t help but feel like I had stepped into a high-end museum rather than a restaurant. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, happily sharing historic information about the area and informing me that this year marked the 130th anniversary of the establishment.

Went in about 5 on a Friday. They are quite busy. Waited a while then asked for a menu. Waited another 15 minutes. Tried to catch attention of person behind the counter. No luck. After waiting 15 minutes with an open menu in front of me I asked again if I could place an order. Was told by gentlemen behind the counter that he didn’t realize I was there. I was sitting with an open menu in front of me. Do I need to be rude and shout for service?

What a cool place! Seriously. You have to experience it. The bar keep is very nice. The place is an amazing piece of history. One beer on tap, and it’s their own Atlantic City brew. I love this place.

Definitely not the place I remember. First the service was horrible second the food had no taste no seasoning and way way over PRICED 50 bucks for 2 burgers and 2 simple drinks. 3rd other people were served before us and came in 45 mins after us and got their food 1st . Very Bad service!! It’s turned into a tourist trap ,and there’s a reason all the locals were next door at Miner’s Grubsteak . Will never go back and Definitely never recommend this place to anyone ever. It’s very sad what this place turned into

I read about it on facebook and thought it would be nice to be able to stop and partake of their food and check out everything that is in their mercantile. It is absolutly awesome. I would recommind it to everyone out of state or in Wyoming. I live in Montana but from Wyoming and have been through Atlantic City and South Pass City but it was always closed. Their steaks at dinner time are AWESOME. Make sure you call and make reservation for Dinner starting at 5:00 PM. Steaks are Tender with just the right amount of flavor. They do a great job. Highly Satified with the visit.

I can’t stress enough how if you have kids (or even if you don’t) you should bring them here. If you live in WY and want to show your kids the history of the place you live this is where you bring them. This is best preserved “ghost” town I’ve ever seen. Get there early enough in the day to go on a tour of the Carissa Mine…you don’t actually go down in the mine but are in the mill area…and the mill actually works…so they’ll get the machinery running to show you how it all works…really cool! Spend some time walking and touring the town at your own pace…they have lots of rooms set up on display so you can imagine what it would look like during that time…lots of information and history…people in character work the town as barkeeps and shop tenders…pick up a souvenir (I got a button puller and my husband got a replica deck of cards). Visit the cemetery which still has a few grave sites that weren’t moved and take the hiking trail. The mine tour only cost about $2 and the rest is free…so if you’re looking for a super affordable day adventure when your kids are out of school and you want to pry their eyeballs away from the tube/phones/ipads…this is a great option. Go see your state…learn something…get outside and get some exercise.

Old school Wyoming atmosphere. Friendly service. Very tasty cheeseburger and does equis beer. The prices were reasonable especially considering that it’s in the middle of nowhere (in a good way.)

We always enjoy the unique experience and ambiance of this treasure nestled in the southern part of the Wind River mountains. No other place like it that I am aware of and the steaks are delicious!
