We’re very happy to test delicious food at the restaurant. Service was nice as well. Atmosphere may need little update.

When in town, staying at the hotel we at at this restaurant. Quality of food was poor. Chicken was very dry, sides were cold, very poor service. We arrived 10 min after they opened and did not get our food for 46 min. Quite the letdown. The building is pretty inside.

Having just moved back to Evansville, a friend suggested the Stone City Grill. It was a wonderful experience. The food was very tasty and had a very nice presentation. I would definitely return.

WAY over priced for the quality. We got firecracker shrimp which was just…OK. I got a salad which was nothing special, my husband and our friend, got the pork chop neither one touched their sides because they were cold and gross but they said the pork chop was good. So disappointed and it took forever to get our food.

I came to this restaurant with my mother for dinner, and we unfortunately had an underwhelming experience. Aesthetically beautiful, the hotel presents an inviting atmosphere. This Doubletree is lovely without doubt. However, I can’t say the same about the food at its Stone City Grill. We started off on the wrong foot because we split an order of bacon wrapped scallops. The bacon was burned to a crisp on the ends and the middle portion was completely uncooked fat. Worse, the scallops themselves were cold on the inside! This was a shocking and unpleasant experience, and it should never happen in any restaurant. Next came the Indiana Corn Salad; this array of mixed greens and assorted vegetables was overwhelming in its quantity, perhaps typical of Midwest cuisine preferences. In fact, it was so tall and wide, that it completely enveloped the plate. This made for a very poor presentation and simply too much food that was difficult to manage. The accompanying dressing came on the side by request, and it was barely enough to cover 10% of the salad. The corn, an Indiana staple of pride, was not even separated into kernels. In other words, it was a grid of corn kernels, shaved from the cob, that had simply been tossed on the plate. The sheer amount of spinach and lettuce was so disproportionate to the rest of the ingredients that it was overwhelming. The entire look of this salad was one of thoughtless and hurried process, making for an overall meal of poor quality. I had my remaining 10 pounds of roughage put into a to-go box, but it only made it as far as the bin outside of the lobby. On a positive note, our server was extremely friendly, and she kindly offered to take the appetizer off the bill, as one would at least expect. I am beginning to understand the Indiana playbook for restaurant dining: real friendly folks who serve lots of mediocre food. Bummer.

I’ve been here a few times for the lunch buffet. I really enjoyed the fried chicken and also the fajita menus they’ve had for the buffet. Never too busy, but almost always people in here.
