Visiting Indianapolis for a few days with my family, we decided to visit Marabou Lakay. We always try to support our Island Restaurants wherever we go. Food and service was great on our first day. We liked the food so much, we decided to return on the second day to pick up dinner. We were very excited…….it turned into a disaster. Placed my order ( establishment was not to busy), I waited for over 30 minutes. Other people were coming in way after me, placing their orders and receiving their orders and leaving. When I questioned it, they said I had to wait on the white rice for one of my orders (this was not expressed to me when I placed my order). Right after this interaction, another customer came in and placed and order, and requested white rice. She was able to get her white rice, when I was just told I had to wait about 30 minutes for white rice. Again, I asked the person behind the counter about this…..he told me I just came in and placed my order. I told him that, I was there for over 30 minutes already. It was nothing but rudeness after that. I was already there and my family was in the car waiting for food, so we could go back to out hotel. It is sad when you want to support your Island people, but no matter how good your food is, great service should go hand in hand with it. We will definitely not be returning to Marabou Lakay on our future visit to Indianapolis. No matter how good your food taste, your terrible customer service experience will keep your customer base from growing.

First time eating Haitian food, and I was very pleased. My coworker and I shared the Mixed Vegetables meal and the Goat Stew. She got white rice, I got rice and beans, and we both got fried plaintains. was surprised to discover the mixed vegetable entree was mostly beef and had a crab perched on top but since neither of us are vegetarian, it did not bother us a bit. It was delicious, as was the goat stew. Both had a bit of spice, but it was flavorful, not overpowering. The slaw was a bit spicy for me, but she LOVED it. We will definitely be back!

We had the fried chicken and fried fish… absolutely delicious! The chicken was falling off the bones and the fish batter has some really nice flavor. This was our first time trying Haitian food and it did not disappoint. Definitely recommend!

We arrived looking for Caribbean food. This is not really a Caribbean restaurant it’s a Haitian restaurant big difference. The lady was not very polite or friendly she wouldn’t get off the phone we waited to be seated for like 5 minutes she shoved the menu at us while she was on the phone we just decide to leave they had a couple people there that we’re obviously working for the restaurant but none of them would help

Food was Mid. Service was Mid. When me and my sister walked in the girl at the desk just knew we didn’t speak their language and immediately seemed bothered putting her head in her hands and not even acknowledging us. A customer at the desk let us know another girl who could speak English would be out in a minute.
