This place is my favorite taco place in Albuquerque. Their molcajetes are awesome! You can have pick up to three meats and it enough food for 2-3 persons. Their self serve salsa bar is crazy good! Definitely a five star if you are a taco lover.

Oh sweet baby Jesus. This is my new favorite spot in Albuquerque. The food was AMAZING! Flavorful, spicy, filling, delicious, authentic! The best place I have been in Albuquerque, hands down! This is a must eat. The fish tacos were to die for. Our group debated on going right back for seconds.

They have birria tacos, asada fries , burgers, street tacos and more. Unfortunately, fountain drinks were out of order. The food was good, salsas were bomb. Family friendly place, lots of seating.

I can’t wait to go back. I had the barbacoa tacos but I will be getting the Birra tacos next time I go. It’s a nice little hole in the wall. The staff was on top of things, we didn’t have to wait long for our order. The drinks we ordered were huge. definitely a must try.

I’m so disappointed w my visit today. It took 45min for the food to get to our table, we got there when a rush of people were leaving. Even when it’s been busy before, our food took 20min at most. The fish tacos used to be amazing here. It was a perfect balance of flavors. Never waited this long at Don Choche to get fish tacos that look like they’re from a school cafeteria. I don’t know what happened but this is not the Don Choche I’m used too. I’m so sad, I loved this place. They used to give you chips while you waited, not anymore. The salsa wasn’t spicy at all! Which is uncommon for this place. The waitress said the cook was out of town but c’mon. There were flies everywhere inside the restaurant, so disgusting. You have to swat them away while you eat. No bug zappers anywhere. There were tables outside w dirty dishes just sitting in the sun and a swarm of flies all over it. Before and after pics of the fish tacos.

This used to be one of my go to places but either the cook/owner/management or supplies changed a great deal in the last year. The carne asada has a sweet taste with a jerky like texture (think teriyaki jerky from the store). The fried potatoes are no longer fresh but bagged frozen and then fried with no seasoning. The ham was just 2-3 extremely thin pieces of deli meat. We were very sad with our meal. The salsa is still a winner but not worth the trip just for that. In fact one of the salsas (chipotle) I got had what I’m assuming was some peanut butter in it which could be very dangerous for someone who is allergic. They were out of the peanut salsa so I definitely didn’t confuse them nor was it near it since there was none. We won’t be back sadly!

My son and I went there for my birthday, he raved about how hot the chili was how awesome the food was. But when we went he was disappointed and so was I the red chili tasted more like it was a powder instead of from the pods. When I asked them to bring me some red chili because my enchiladas hardly had any sauce the chili they brought out was cold. The service was great but just wanted to be honest with you, would I come back I would give it another try.
