A great place for breakfast, even with a large family!

First time in with my wife around 3pm on Monday. The place looks great after remodeling from the former Old Chicago’s which was then very dark, low lighting. Sweet Basil’s Cafe was nice and bright and a welcoming venue. We were seated immediately as our arrival was between lunch and dinner. The menu selection is almost overwhelming. Everything sounded so good that we wanted to try it all. The prices are a bit high but then again so are most places nowadays. Specialty is breakfast all day. My wife ordered the Sweet Basil waffle with bananas, Strawberries and pecans. She said it was amazing! I ordered the Sweet Basil Burger. It too made it into my top 5 of Burgers! We wanted to try the jumbo pretzel and were blown away with the actual size. It definitely lives up to its name. It’s served with a cheese sauce and a marinara sauce. Both are very good. My burger came with a soup option which I chose the stuffed bell pepper soup. My only issue was I had to add black pepper which brought out more of the flavor. I really enjoyed the soup. We actually went shopping afterwards to make it ourselves. The fries were slightly battered and perfectly crispy and did the trick with the burger combo. Our server was Kaitlyn and she was awesome! She helped us through our questions and she served our food in a very timely and patient manner, as it took us a bit to select from the very many food options. According to Kaitlyn they are working on getting their liquor license but currently do not provide any adult beverages at this time. They do have sweet tea, one thing I seem to have a hard time finding in most place here in Colorado. They do provide military discount which also appears to be not as prevalent as it once was with establishments. We are definitely going to go back! I really want to try their Gyros next time, especially since Kaitlyn said the owner is Greek and the meat is not the prepackaged stuff that you buy at the super market. The pretzel was the bomb but it did mean we could only eat half of our food on our plates. The leftover we ate later that nice, again amazing! Table of six I’d order the pretzel, table of two. Get it to go.

Crazy menu! All our food was good, but my French fries were the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve had some really good fries in my day. OH mah-gosh. Golden crispy on the outside and pillowy deliciousness on the inside. I was totally surprised by a cup of Creamed Spinach soup. Seriously. I scarfed that down like a puppy. Just try it, man!

Not bad! The jumbo chicken fried steak wasn’t quite jumbo however everything else was hahaha the jambalaya pasta had really good flavor! Loved the chicken noodle soup! Their pancakes are massive! And their saganaki was quite the cheesy experience!

This was my first time at Sweet Basil. I had heard from friends the food was really good, so we did ladies’ celebration dinner here.

I ordered the juevos rancheros and opted for pulled pork but what they brought out was chopped pork. It may have been a supply issue but it still tasted really good. What was really funny is I asked for the tortillas to not be fried, that’s it, and then when the dish came out it had no eggs because they said the eggs were fried Gave me a good chuckle. It also had no beans or green chili so it really wasn’t even juevos rancheros. Also side note: their pancakes are HUGE! My wife said they’re too sweet though and didn’t taste like buttermilk pancakes. Our server was wonderful even though she royally messed up my order.

Decent place. Our food took a little long so we didn’t get time to enjoy it much as we were in a hurry. Hash browns were under cooked a bit, huevos rancheros with the pulled pork was flavorful but spicer than I would like. Kids mickey mouse pancakes was gigantic. I’ll come back, they have a huge menu with lots of great options. Definitely need more than an hour to dine in.
