I really wanted to like Agave Azul! I’m always looking for ways to support local businesses. The pictures I saw online made this place look amazing. The in person decor was just OK. The real reason for the 1 star was the food. First, I found a hair in the complimentary salsa – yuck! Things happen so I overlooked it….as I said I wanted to like Agave Azul! I went during lunch and ordered the veggie California Bowl which was served in a tiny oval dish with rice, diced salsa, guacamole, chunks of barely fried onions and squash with black beans on the side. Not how the menu described the California Bowl but I dug in any way to give it a try. Bottom line it didn’t taste great. MOST CONCERNING….I FOUND THE FLY PICTURED BELOW IN MY FOOD! No return visit to Agave Azul for me or my family!

Let me first start by saying the food here is awesome. Andrea was our server and she was awesome. When we first arrived though I had doubts because my son and I weren’t greeted with Kindness at all. We were told we needed to wait when there were tables available within my view and when we were finally seated the greeter refused to my seating preference only to come later and ask if we wanted to move. That is why I am giving the restaurant a 4 star overall. Every customer should be treated the same and every attempt should be made to make the paying customer happy because a happy customer tips well and leave great reviews. Otherwise this place is fantastic!! I will return and soon!

Agave is a very cute restaurant with outdoor and indoor seating. The food was yummy, I ordered the Mahi Mahi tacos, and my basil and cucumber margarita was also very tasty with a perfect amount of tequila. I plan to visit again to try more varieties. I think they are experiencing a staff shortage right now, like so many places. It took quite a while for my drink to come out. We were just visiting with friends and chatting, so it wasn’t terribly inconvenient. We got our food boxed up to go from the beginning, and it came out fairly quickly, way faster than the margarita I ordered. I got it a couple of minutes before we needed to leave, so I felt young again having to chug it down. Next time, I’ll plan lots of extra time so that I can sit and enjoy it.

We had a large group, so the wait was about an hour or just over. We had some really great drinks, the atmosphere was pretty great. The service was good, server was sweet. The entire restaurant just does not seem like it can handle the number of people it is trying to care for. The food was okay, my street corn came out looking and tasting like an ear of sweet corn, shrimp fries were pretty good. It definitely has an American twist to traditional Mexican. All of the drinks we tried were amazing, though. The bar seemed busy all night.

Second time here and totally worth the drive! We had the Agave Chicken Bowl & Diablo Burrito – both excellent! Not pictured was the Chipotle Shrimp Fries appy that we devoured before thinking to take a pic! Our server, Miranda, was awesome – quick, attentive and super friendly! Highly recommend!!

On the positive, the food was outstanding!! Very diverse menu of Mexican fare. Being from Texas, it was a tall order but this place delivered. My son and I had some great street tacos that had plenty of meat and the tortillas were fresh and authentic. Reasonable prices and the food was plentiful. On the downside, our service was not up to any industry standard. An ordered item was not provided but showed up on our receipt; we had to ask for napkins after our chips/salsa were delivered; our food was brought to the table but I had to go get silverware; our waters and drinks were never refilled nor asked to be refilled. When I noted the missed item that was on our bill, the waitress made it sound like it would be a big ordeal to correct and offered to bring the item in a to-go box, which was not a reasonable accommodation. We may return on the optimism that we’d get a better server because the food was that good.

Fantastic experience! The mezcalito was perfectly balanced. The sampler dip was pleasant, with the guacamole and tangy salsa standing out. Both our entrees were delicious – the mango fried shrimp and the grande chimichanga. They were out of octopus this day, so sadly I can’t speak to it, and we did find it odd that a number of dishes included mozzarella cheese. The gentleman serving us was extremely friendly and quick. Will come back again anytime- especially to check out their specials!
