Food is just trash. Mama j sold the restaurant to a family member and he’s not upholding the quality of food. Food is bland, Mac and cheese is straight garbage, no cheese. It literally taste like noddles and water . I had to season my food to my liking. I’ll never eat here again, not worth the price or the time. Chef, you need work simply said!!!

I typically do not post but was sadly disappointed with the food. Bought the curry goat and curry chicken…. The goat dish was salty and not flavorful as I am accustomed to (travel the Caribbean and lived in D.C./MD area). The chicken dish was bland. The cabbage on both dishes was not steamed to Caribbean tenderness and tasted heavily of coconut… I am think coconut milk may have been used not sure…

The absolute worst food I’ve ever had. The service was amazing. The one individual who was in there taking orders was extremely polite and courteous. However great their service is, they need to completely reconsider being an actual restaurant & just stick to selling incense & juices. The oxtail were not only thin & few, but tough. I mean well done steak tough. Absolutely no flavor whatsoever, even after requesting additional sauce per my overall experience with oxtails the sides i typically choose. The sides were flavorless- rice & peas, mac & cheese. Then had the audacity to charge $25+tax. Everything as i observed was extremely overpriced & laughably misleading. Most places in my experience have menu items that justify the prices. These people are just straight robbing folks with their takeout & i have no clue how they stay in business.

I ate the red snapper, collards, island rice, and plantains. It was really good. My plates were clean when I was done, and everyone I encountered was really nice. Cool vibe, good food. I can’t wait to come back! They have a band playing live music later tonight too!

These oxtails remind me of back home in Jersey. Only reason it’s not a 5 star because I wanted a little bit more spice. I will recommend Coolies to anyone that looking for some good Jamican food it definitely hit the spot

Went there last week. Ordered the oxtail plate for $25 and the large jerk chicken $18?. Sides were rice and pea (majority of the plate) and Mac and cheese. My sis said she didn’t like the ox tails (ox tail queen) and my chicken was more chopped bone than chicken. It had good flavor but kinda dry. The rice and peas had no flavor and the Mac n cheese was soooooo salty and just mixed Mac. I have had Jamaican food before and this wasn’t a good representation. Also the young man taking the order had no knowledge on the food. When asked how many pieces or what’s the difference between the small and large he didn’t know how to answer nor did he really seem to care to find out. I should have walked out but I tried. We literally threw the food away. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. But I def won’t be going back but I encourage people to make their own decision but I can’t guarantee it will be good because of my experience. Sad but most restaurants are doing the bare minimum. I hope this comment encourages them to cook with passion and make people fall in love with their food to justify the the price. God bless

Food was great! Come prepared to like spicy food though. The Mac and cheese was great. Lots of pepper and other spices. Same with the cabbage. Had the jerk chicken. Loved the heat level and will definitely come back.

I’m not one to write reviews, but this was just outrageous today. My partner and I came here for the first time today. We ordered food around 6:15. We got our food at 7:30. You’d think the restaurant is busy for over a hour wait for food. There was a total of six people including me and my partner.

On the way home from a trip put in Jamaican restaurant and my GPS and came to Coolies got a small curry chicken. Glad I only got a small. The food was mediocre. The gravy or the sauce was very watery. It’s definitely not somewhere I would go back to.
