We stopped by around 1pm on Saturday to visit Fierce Whiskers, but we did our research ahead of time and knew CHAR ATX was a must. Jesse (spelling?) greeted us outside the world’s most luxurious food truck, made recommendations based on our peckishness and preferences, and then cooked up a fantastic lunch that surpassed most Yakitoris we’ve visited across Austin and LA. Honestly it’s worth the drive just for this experience, but the symbiosis between CHAR ATX and Fierce Whiskers makes the combination greater than the sum of the parts.

A little overpriced for the amount you get, but delicious all around. The distillery area is a great place to have this yakitori stand. Would’ve liked my skewers a little more charred though…

Sits next to a whisky distillery, if you want some drinks. On Friday night when I went, there was live music outside. The menu was pretty small but all the items were great. I had some friends with me and we tried everything they had.

In a city like Austin, it’s hard to stand out. Otoshi makes its mark by surprising you. The Chinese donut is not what you expect, but is 10 times better. It’s warmed on the grill, so you get the flavor of the fire, then they top it off with a sweet cream and sesame seeds. The meat offerings are deliciously savory and a bit sweet, but well balanced. The place they could improve on would be having more combinations so I can try more of the skewers.

Go and get yourself some amazing yakitori! They should really add the cucumber to the menu, but until then, order the shrimp. And brussel sprouts are amazing! And the octopus balls! And… Just go and order anything!

Char ATX exceeded our expectations. We tried basically everything on the menu and were impressed with all of it. The pork belly and meatballs were my favorites. Great customer service too. Highly recommend.

Wow. This food was amazing! We stopped in just on a Google search after being at McKinney State Park. I did not realize it was at a distillery so when we pulled up with kids, it wasn’t ideal, but so glad we did!
